Why not? You have really passionate fans, and the Northwest typically gets overlooked for events, I think you would be a great place for a draft. Or is it a money issue?

Predictably, every city is now rumoured to be in the running for that 2022 spot. Boston is too. They better announce something soon before the rumour mill builds up impossible hopes in some fan bases and it gets to be a bitter disappointment when they don't get it.

It's easier to deal with not getting something when you haven't gotten your hopes up yet.

Bart Starr passed away. One of the players who made the NFL what it is. RIP.

    - - - Updated - - -

"Bart Starr's postseason stats are, for their era, absolutely amazing. 8.2 yards per pass, 15 TDs, 3 INTs, and a 9-1 record in his 10 postseason games. This was in the 1960s, when the typical TD:INT ratio was about 1:1 and QBs averaged a little over 6 yards per pass." - Michael David Smith

Patriots TE Ben Watson suspended for the first 4 games of the 2019 season. He was prescribed something and pissed hot while retired, before deciding to come back, at which point the league informed him he had failed a test. Teams were aware of his suspension before he ever signed with a team though, so the Patriots knew and still signed him.

    Raiders signed Richie Incognito.

I'm not sure playing football is a good idea for someone that clearly has mental problems. He will probably just end up trying to fight Tom Cable, so might not happen anyway.

So many great moves made... then this.

I really have no clue why anyone would give him a jersey when he needs a psychiatrists sofa.

Would be a big surprise. They've always said it's just too small a city for the media bullshit.

Nah, he picked the Panthers on a one-year deal because he knows it's an odd-numbered year.

So ends the running joke of ASJ as a Pro Bowler. He's stepping away to deal with personal issues and the Patriots are cutting him.

Gronk did an event over the week-end where he spoke and told everyone to stop penciling him in as returning and that he's definitely, and happily, retired.

    I think he's serious.

I also don't think the Patriots have the cap space to sign him back on his old contract. They'd have to move some serious money around. Likely the only way to do it would be to sign Brady to a contract extension. But that would move a large burden into the future. I think the Patriots kind of want to keep Brady on his current contract and have him play it out, and then next off season work out a deal for his final few years that make sense to both sides, without the burden of like 3 previous extensions driving up the cap number.

In other, quite interesting Patriots news: It seems like Jerod Mayo (former all pro linebacker and current first year linebackers coach) has been calling plays at practice today. There were already rumours that people thought he was being put on the fast track to be a high level coach, much like Titans HC Mike Vrabel was, but this would be quite unprecedented. From a job as a TV personality, to first year coaching, to immediately being allowed to call plays.

It's probably just making Mayo comfortable with calling plays down the line, but even being prepped for that in his first few months as a coach is eyebrow raising. If his rise continues I expect a LOT of promos being shot about Mayo this coming season.

Speaking of calling plays, I wonder if Kellen Moore is gonna get to do it.

Really cool article, which boils the great "Pass rush OR Coverage", that raged across the internet a while back, down to "Why not both?": https://ftw.usatoday.com/2019/06/lsu...-rush-coverage

Interesting development. Philly locks up their guy, ahead of some of the guys like Dak etc. that might have driven his price up.
