WoW was never a RPG. If your standard of RPG is WoW, then I can only guess you really have not played a RPG game.

    And who is "we" here?

I know im playing the wrong game. I already reached that conclusion.
I dont claim to be the beholder of truth and that the game SHOULD cater to ME and my needs.
I do not represent anyone but myself.

If WoW is working fine...then plz continue doing so.

Im not gonna cry about the game not catering to me...because i have Classic WoW already

Vanilla, TBC and Wrath were more "RPG" than today.

I really enjoy the game currently. I find there's lots for me to do. Granted, I only play maximum a couple of hours each weekday and then a lot during the weekends.

Do I miss older WoW? Hell, yes. But as an grown ass adult with days filled up with menial things I still enjoy the hell out of this game.

Personally, I find the LFD and LFR tools to be great addition to the games since it allowed easier access to contents for those that otherwise would find difficulty in finding groups to join.

Why people think restricting or denying access to contents for other players is good for the game I do not understand.

Wrath really isn't any different than today. BC is only marginally different'. Vanilla was tedious and grindy. Is your definition of "RPG", "tedious and grindy"?

    You dont understand "why"?

Because it "shapes" the community of the game.
It makes the game more Social.
    By "mandatory" design

Monster Hunter for the playstation 2 was also like this.
It shaped the community to be awesome.
Best looter game ive ever played...because of the community (wich was shaped by the lack of LFD and LFR)

WOTLK was at its peak in sub count.

Then came BFA which is probably darn near close to 1M subs which is nearly 1/12th of it's former glory of WOTLK.

According to my logic, if sub counts are tanking or at it's lowest, then the expansion(s) must be bad.

Nope, it actually happened and that's the truth: It was either pandas or asiatic theme. People didn't liked either of these. Beside of these there weren't any real other complains, but especially the pandas just the asia-theme was a big issue; some disliked it becuase it's asia, some disliked it because it seemed to be focused on the asiatic marked, some didn't like it because back then there were many asiatic MMOs out there, and now wow had actually the same theme and so on.

But the most out of all complains were simply the pandas. I think that back then Kung Fu Panda 2 was out, and many people hated the comparsion of the pandaren and the movie. Others complained that it was a race made out of an joke back in Warcraft 3, and others simply wanted other races.

And the last thing that people complained were the dailypalooza. Too many of it were forced on you to raid; people burned out because blizzard did the most stupid thing ever: hiding valor-gear behind reputation. The best thing was that your valor was capped at 4000, but you couldn't actually buy the gear, because you didn't had the reputation for it. It took far too long, playing hours and hours every day to unlock it, and that lead that people hated daily quests then. But instead of investigating what happened was that blizzard simply ditched nearly all dailys for WoD. And then we had WoD.

But outside of this: were there other complains? I don't think so.

I admit im a no lifer with no friends.
Thats why i enjoy games without queues where socialization is mandatory by design.

If they weren't, what is your explanation as to why they've made horrible choice after horrible choice then ignored the mountains of feed back from players is telling them correct and proper choices/fixes?
It's simple, really. They're incredibly stubborn and don't really actually value the feedback of armchair game designers who pompously come across like they know better than the people who are paid to make the game. It's hard to blame them, either. The community is so arrogant and uncivilized when it comes to providing feedback that it's hard to take it seriously when the vast majority of people giving feedback are psychotically ranting about how incompetent the developers are. The legitimately good feedback is usually drowned out by the asinine or unreasonable.

People on the internet get angry at times, whether with reason or without it. It's the CMs' job to separate the wheat from the chaff so that devs can get the "good" (as in civilized and reasoned) feedback in time. So either CMs didn't do their job or (much more likely imo) devs simply refused to hear, to the point of shutting the beta forums down.

Bfa spiked the lowest playerbase cuz ppl continued to play bfa and i'll be honest that they are brainwashed to "forced" to "ENJOY" it. Good thing i broke it out before winter came. Get rekt

Your experience of socialization is, I would said, rather limited, if that is your view.

"Socialization" before queues, in my experience, was not much than what it is now. The big difference was DPS asking the tanks and healers to be added to their friend lists.

Some people really like the built in Pokemon mini game. Totally worth the $15 monthly fee.

i literaly cant wait for classic release

exacly because it will shatter the dreams and lies people spread about vanilla

how social it was and how it was only rainbows and kittens everywhere

while reality is people will ninja the fuck out of anything they can - and there will be 0 consequesnces of being jerks / toxic - you know why ? becuase no guild will ever kick geared/attuned player

i really cant wait because forums will be amazing to read with all "whining" and 0 consequences

because we dont live in world of 2004 anymore . and people rolling bis specs will be desired like hell by anyone especially if they will be attuned.

really not trying to be a dick - but if you definition of socialisation is others being forced to speak to you ? then you behave kinda like those kids who had no friends in school but who were demanding their mother/father to force other parents to bring kids to your birthsday even though they openly were showing that they didnt like you -_-

i know harsh example and most probably unjustified but its showing the best the picture of how "forced socialisation " in games look like

It's funny to see a review of a complete expansion on the first patch, it's like to review a movie in the first 20 minutes.

It does feel like its lowest, somehow managing to get worse than Warlords...

But that's purely a feeling. I could never prove such a thing, because I don't have access to the data.

All I'll say is that I'm pretty sure it's amongst the worst subscribed periods for World of Warcraft, at this moment.

Where are you getting those numbers at, chief? Sounds like a bunch of BS to me. Especially what with that report that said WoW is ActiBlizz's biggest moneymaker.
