That's the problem is that mages and to a lesser extent locks have been given every single tool in the wow kit, with no downsides in arena. Godly heals? Check. Endless mobility? Check? CC that spans the DR spectrum by itself? Check. Immunity, disengage, combat drop, damage reduction, ability to damage out of line of sight preventing skillful los play? checkcheckcheckcheckcheckcheckcheck

    If i lose to RMP, that may attribute to many things, but Greater Pyro is rarely among them.
    Like seriously, if you have at least one class on your team that can reasonably screw casters (such as Shaman) greater Pyro is not a big worry, Meteor combo is a much bigger deal.

    Okay, what kind of passive damage reduction does fire mage have?
    There are only two PvP talents, Netherwind Armor and Dampened Magic (which doesn't help against burst at all), which you generally do not favour because there are better options like Greater Pyro, Temporal Shield.

    Now, that leaves Mages with their Absorb Armor and if you've taken it, Temporal Shield.
    Both are dispellable, meaning that unless you play with a Resto Druid, they'll be gone pretty quickly.

    Outside of that, Mages are quite squishy and nowhere near the level of something like a DK, who is pretty immortal in Arena right now.

    Judging by the replies in this thread, it seems that whether your spell can be interrupted or not doesn't seem to matter. People find a way to make sure the spell goes off.

    Counterspell, kick, pummel etc. You cant use these on sniper shot.

    All the people who are apparently multi rank 1 players who have never been on the receiving end of a gpyro: watch some mage streams of ACTUAL good players and see that they consistently get them off in arena.

    There's tricks to bring cast time down to 3.5sec or less also.

    just because someone is getting them off consistently doesnt mean its easy and doesnt mean the spell is broken

    i think gpyro design in general is stupid, but its not broken, fire mage isnt broken either

    GP shouldn't be affected by Haste. That's the only problem I see with it.
    All %HP spells should have constant cast time.

    easily out of range, easily los'd, easily cc'd, easily to interrupt. What fucking more do you want? It's a 6 secs casting...if you are getting destroyed by this then you are doing something wrong.

    OT - Not done much PvP lately but reasently did and damn, so many fire mages in 2s! Greater Pyro everywhere! It's pretty straight forward though. Felt more of a l2p issue on my part than them being OP. (me playing ret paladin)

    It's 4.5 base and it benefit from haste.
