N'zoth might be evil; but is he worse than Anduin or Sylvanas? They want to play their little war games while the planet is dying; as we saw in 8.2 it's now more than ever if the planet is so weak that it even looses it's titan essence. The old Gods are evil; but they definitively don't want the death of the planet. While it might be more easy to corrupt the planet i doubt that this is what they will do right now, because it might weaken the planet even more.

So what do we have:

An peace loving boy-king that does have not enough experience with powers that he can't control.
An insane banshee queen that wants to revive the power of the lich king and make it to herself while destroying everything in her way
People who don't accept inside their own faction and makes things even more unstable

an old god that might not be better than anyone above; but is he worse?

Most people on my server I saw so far cleansed the gift. I will keep it on one of my alt to see whatever story difference there will be.

My demon hunter accepted, gaining the power of the enemy to fight the enemy is a DH thing, my paladin declined for obvious reason.

I attribute it more to the quest not finishing if you accept the gift, and how awful the crown looks. It should have been just the eye floating above you or something like that.
