Seems like a western culture thing to me since its promoted there and young girls get the wrong message.

    The short answer is yes.

The reasons are many reasons. Mainly, because lesbianism is less 'intrusive' than male homosexuality - pun intended. Secondly and maybe more importantly, men tend to hide their deviating sexual preferences more than women, which might skew the statistics.

I'd say more women are willing to admit that they've played on both sides of the tracks than men. It's easier for women to talk about it with both their straight gal pals (who probably giggle) and any straight guys they know (who probably think its hot).

On the other hand, a bi guy can share the fact that he got blown by a male Marine last night with a straight gal pal, but he's probably friend zoned from that point on and treated more as a GBF than a possible romantic partner, and the last thing his straight guy friends want to hear is how hot it was getting head from a male Marine.

Most of them, though, have boyfriends. Some of them have had girlfriends in the past.
Compare that to the guys, where only 1 of us have done stuff with the same sex, and he's homosexual which explains it.

Also, the term "In my teens I was confused and was exploring my sexuality"? Only heard it from girls, never guys. Every guy I know was 100% certain if he liked weiner or taco when puberty hit.

Obviously this is far from empirical research, but it still got me curious. Is there any evidence that suggests that girls are more prone to being, at the very least, bisexual compared to guys?

Obviously there's nothing wrong with it, I'm just curious because it does seem to be such a huge difference between the sexes and bisexual tendencies.
Or maybe it is because a lot of guys are fighting the possibility that they might be bisexual and/or are worried about the repercussions.

My wife and her friends hug and kiss each other all the time. Seems like the norm from what I've seen. I don't think there's a sexual attraction though.

You can see how that openness to being close and friendly would allow feelings to grow.

Probably because guys shame each other a lot more for experimenting. Typical "masculinity" abhors hetero-nonconformity, while typical "femininity" has no such rules.

Nah it’s a cultural thing. It’s also biological but in terms of how it’s viewed Greeks, Romans even Eastern Asia it was accepted and encouraged for men. Something something bonding.

Although I’d never confuse sex with love so meh!

Stuff you see in adult film or media is not real it’s acting.

Yeah men find other men much more repulsive than women do other women.

It's a combination of many factors. First of all I want to clarify that experimenting doesn't actually turn you into whatever label, it's just somebody trying something new, they may like it or not, and even if they like it doesn't mean they have a new label, they may decide not to experiment it more for whatever reason. That said:
    - First it's all a worldwide cultural thing that includes:
-- Men are way more stigmatized when they aren't 100% straight.
--- Due to former point, men are usually uncomfortable at being called names when it comes to their sexuality, while girls don't usually care.
---- Due to that girls are often more open mind about their sexuality and everybody else's sexuality, while men (or any orientation) are usually more reluctant.
----- So most men won't hardly ever experiment anything that crosses the "straight line" to explore their sexuality.
-- Porn has contributed a lot to this view. Actresses usually perform bisexual or even pure lesbian scenes even when they are 100% straight because it's what the audience want and since women are objectified in porn, and of course two objects excite more than one... Plus it has a wider audience: straight (and bi?) men, and bi and gay women. On the other hand, there are very few straight male that perfom gay scenes (the so called gay4pay actors), and gay scenes are directed almost exclusively to gay men, so way less audience, so it's less "normal".
-- Bisexuality is way way way more stigmatized than Homosexuality. Liking one genre may be OK, but both? that's pure lust and apocalyptic.
-- In countries where LGBTI are not legal, the punishment is usally harder on men than on women.
-- All of these create a situation that looks like there are more bisexual women than men, but the truth is most bisexual men hide it for fear of rejection.

I'm a bi man myself, and I've met both bi women and men, and while women seemed to be really opened to talk about it, you could feel the fear of men to be spotted or talk about it.

In a ideal world, there would be no labels and the signature would be "fuck whatever the fuck you like, (as long as it's human and at legal age), and don't give a shit about what other may think". Unfortunately that's not how this world works (yet?)

I think it was the other way around a couple of decades ago. Gay porn used to pay more so it wasn't strange for a straight male to top in some gay porn. I guess porn and gay porn being more accepted nowadays played a role too.

I don't think bisexuality is way more stigmatised than homosexuality in general but I always found it quite strange that bisexuals were stigmatised in the LGBTQ community.

Imagine, if you will, that boys are taught and encouraged to be more touchy-feely with other boys.

Imagine that there is no stigma. "We like anyone who we like."

I think there would be more experimentation by both sexes.

Growing up, I was taught that homosexuality is deviant behavior. Homosexuals are weird and wrong.

If we all grew up in a very sexually liberated society, I bet we'd find many many more "bisexual" or "gender fluid" people.

I think it's because they're seen as fence-sitters in the LGBT community. Time for a LGBi-exit?

Everybody loves seeing girls kiss each other and that behavior is encouraged, while most gay/bi men receive negative reactions and backlash for their choice.

You will probably find more males than females 'in the closet' because of this.
I agree, that is what I mean to say.

As others have said women are allowed to be much more intimate with other women in public. That said I do know quite a few women who have hooked up with women and men. My best friend is pretty gay but she still has interest in both, /shrug.

Well, i've talked to many girls that revealed to me they kissed another girls just because they wanted to be cool, and kissing another girl makes girls feel very edgy.

I am not claiming all of them are like this, just revealing an anecdotal evidence.

Guys dont kiss another guys because it makes them cooler, but girls kissing another girls do make them look cooler.

No, its just more socially acceptable.

A lot of straight guys dabble in gay experiences but never openly speak about it.

My girlfriend is bisexual... And I dabbled during my uni days, but I prefer women. :P

Whether people prefer one sex or both is clearly based on the person, not their gender. People are who they are.
