    Biden goes after union vote

Former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden made clear on Monday at his first event as a presidential candidate that he stands ready to battle President Donald Trump for the support of the blue-collar workers who were key to Trump’s election in 2016.

“I make no apologies. I am a union man,” Biden told a crowd that included members of the Teamsters, steelworkers, firefighters and teachers unions. “The country wasn’t built by Wall Street bankers, CEOs and hedge fund managers, it was built by you.”

A lot of union workers switched to republican and voted for Trump. Why? Union workers were worried about globalization and Trump was the only candidate to focus on reducing the effects of globalization.

Union workers used to be the core of the democrat party.

Do you think Biden's tactic is a good idea?

He has a better relationship with unions than most Democrats, and he'll certainly get more support from them than Trump. The question here is if he'll actually stick his neck out for them via legislation or will he repeat the mistakes of the Obama-era.

Seeing as Biden works with anti-union shitheads, I really don't see them picking him over Sanders or even Warren. He was also part of the Obama era, so in a Biden-trump match-up I don't think we would see many unions backing either of them, unions are going to be shat on either way.

It's hilarious that Trump sold you guys on socialism, and you bought into it.

This is the duplicitous nature of rust-belt workers. They are the welfare class and socialists of this country.

No socialist voted for Trump, and most rust-belt workers do not even vote at all(look at low turnout is for lower income classes).

Of course they did, they just want a different version of that socialism. They want welfare for farmers, factory workers, subsidized coal, morality laws, big spending on the defense budget, and to keep brown people out.

And yet right before his ‘official’ campaign kickoff he was already fundraising with a bundler who is a union-busting lawyer. Great move, Joe.

I would think Biden wouldn't have to go after the 'Union' vote, they'd come to him, or whomever the Democratic nominee is. Republicans are hostile towards unions on their face, it's not exactly a secret or anything.

Oh you have no idea how stupid some Union Workers are.

They'll gladly vote for anyone who shares their dislike for certain demographics and for anyone that they believe will keep them from paying taxes.

Biden didn't exactly do much for them as vice-president. You have a choice between yet another corporate liberal in the pay of capital or Donald Trump: I imagine most will not vote.

And Biden gets money from union busters.

Considering he had a huge fundraiser by Comcast it's hard to believe many unions will support him, at least during the primary. They should, if they have any ounce of intelligence, support whoever wins the primary. Trump conned them in 2016, he continued this con even in the first months of his presidency, then his first budget came, he doesn't give a fuck about union workers, and they'd be just stupid if they get conned again. But him having a fit over this is amusing.

Nice to see that the leftists turn against organized labor the moment they don't support their candidate. So much for supporting the working class

So far with how early it is I hope he wins. It would be refreshing to have a real politician talk about actual issues rather then nazi frogs or walls.

    Or they are police/ICE unions.

How unions are handled in the US has always been a mystery to me. What leads them to support an candidate that would side with the union busters?
