What happened was he was called out by his ex and she asked people to share stories. Everything other than the cheating is from that request. Many pics he sent people were shared in addition to his requests for pics.

We have "revenge porn" laws to take care of that sort of thing. Since his life is basically ruined, he should consider seeking a lawyer to sue.

In basic conversations with friends, family, or even strangers, there's some basic courtesies that you should have. One is not nitpicking over semantics. If they say "pedophilia", and it's obvious that the age range they're talking about isn't under 14, then it's safe to assume they meant "minor" or "under the age of consent". The actual age is irrelevant if we all agree that the minor and adult relationship is wrong. Playing the semantics game only causes problems.
