At this point I'm entirely convinced that this isn't driven by politics but rather having pretty girls smooch on screen. Someone at the CW has seen Pornhub metrics.

You should probably watch it until the Crisis crossover happens. I'll probably make much less of an effort afterwards.

Say what you mean then instead of random hyperbolic rants.

I'm still not convinved that the show actually has a written script. It feels like someone had a vague idea, called everyone over to the set and then they just shot a couple of scenes they thought would be cool use of tropes and tried to make sense of it in editing. None of the characters actually has a motivation that makes even remotely sense. And by episode 8 the main character is pretty much an accomplice in what, 6 murders and bunch of various other crimes that only happen because she keeps letting her murder hobo sister run free. There are amateur scripts for furry porn out there that are better written than this show.
You are welcome, Metzen. I hope you won't fuck up my underground expansion idea.

And that is exactly why I gave up. I can't take it anymore. Cringe aside the writing literally makes no sense at all. I can't do it. I had to turn it off.

Well they are blaming trolls and toxic men. Except if enough women actually thought the show was good the score should even out. There are plenty of female reviewers you can find that also agree the show is a dumpster fire. I was willing to give it a chance even after the cringe trailers. I got to episode 5 and said nope screw this I'm done. No more please.

The IMDB scores are pretty telling. The show is being heavily brigaded. Even if you excluded the 1/10's though you're still left with a show with mediocre scores. The average score from female users is about a 6/10 (probably lower if you throw out the 10/10's). That's not great. IMDB really needs to do better weighting. Quite frankly all of the 1/10's are troll reviews and all of the 10/10's are from publicists and cultists.

Supergirl by comparison is a 6/10 from guys and 7/10 from girls. There are substantial amounts of 10/10 scores (which is suspicious) but also an equal amount of 7/10's. Legends has about the same score. Black Lightning is a little worse (it has more 1/10's) but is otherwise around a 7. Arrow and Flash are about a 7.5.

Batwoman is mediocre TV. There's no agenda however. Having a lesbian lead means there will be stuff about girls and stuff about LGBQT. Its doing a weak job on that stuff but even worse it fails as an action TV show. That's really the worst sin of all.

Heavily brigaded by people who watched it and said to themselves "this is a bad TV show".

A more normal looking distribution would have other scores. Lots of 2's, 3's and 4's. That's still bad TV but reflects a variety of opinions. Some would say its bad, some would say mediocre. Some might even say its OK!

Tbh, if somehting is that bad, I doubt many people go out of their way to find the few actual good parts and argue with themselves if they can give it a 2 or a 3. Most people I know have rage quit the series because the lead character is as likeable as the villain at this point.

I mean if this was the 80's and some random direct to VHS release straight out of the camera of the cameraman/producer/director/writer/lead actor (indicating the person being all of that at once), then I could argue that they managed to actually frame a shot, hold the camera stable and don't have the boom mics constantly hang into the shot. That might be worth 2 or 3 points. Going by modern standards for a licensed product, I have a hard time giving them credit for showing up for filmining, I can maybe wring out a point or 2 if we pretend this is The Room level of bad and ironically watch it or is a disguised "How NOT to.." series for educational purposes, but that is just pity points..

I can't even give it smut points because Ruby Rose kissing some chick is only hot if you tell your racist & homophobe grandparents that she is actually a woman. For everyone born after the moonlanding, this is pretty tame and lame tbh.

Some people only think in binary terms and give stuff a 1/10 or a 10/10. A lot of people don't. Trolls always give 1/10's. Publicists and fanatics give 10/10's. How do you separate people who might genuinely hate or love something from those groups?

Ratings on the IMDB will show pyramids because that's how people actually rate shows.

A 1/10 Movie like Manos Hands of Fate has a substantial amount of 2/10 ratings for example. A 10/10 show like Breaking Bad has a lot of 8/10's and even more 9/10's.

Would you call Batwoman an LGBT show? or just a show with an Lesbo lead?

Also, it seems that secretidentity is not such a big thing in these CW shows.. in the 90s superhero shows were all about the secret identity. They hid it at all costs, but in each of the CW shows.

I think Arrow is the only one where his identity was a secret for the longestperiod of time by the fewest number of people.

I really like the secret identity thing, sadly the CW makes it look quite cheesy, the moveis do a much better job,

Apparently this shit seems to work, or they're too scared about cancelling a show with LGBT lead, dunno

    Even IMDB ratings are odd.
3.4/10 for the Serie (21000 votes) but episodes grow each time (probably because only the people who enjoy the serie continue rating them, as the other ones have already stopped) :
    - Episode 1: 4.8/10 (3000)
    - Episode 2: 5.2/10 (2000)
    - Episode 3: 5.4/10 (1700)
    - Episode 4: 5.4/10 (1300)
    - Episode 5: 5.8/10 (1200)
    - Episode 6: 5.7/10 (1000)
    - Episode 7: 5.7/10 (900)
    - Episode 8: 6.5/10 (700)
    - Episode 9: 8.1/10 (1500)

Now is this Batgirl or a reiteration of Batman?
If it's the latter is there a Batboy?

Episode 9 was part of the crossover event so it's not a normal episode. That's more a rating of the event than the show.

Not too odd. Pretty much what you noted. Only the people still watching it (most of whom enjoy it) are rating it. You have Ep 9 in bold, that's an outlier because it's the big crossover event, Crisis on Infinite Earths. I'm sure all the DC's titles for the XOver event got (or will get) a nice bump.

"Take the time to sit down and talk with your adversaries. You will learn something, and they will learn something from you. When two enemies are talking, they are not fighting. It's when the talking ceases that the ground becomes fertile for violence. So keep the conversation going."

Ah, didn't know about the crossover, thanks for the information, that explains the bump (both in notation and votes count)

All that whineing about ruby rose. All you hippies wanted positive sexual discrimination and there you have it. Tits are now more important than skill. Now shut up and eat your cake.

I was afraid to open this thread because of what I knew I would find here... I was right, and now I need to bleach my brain.
Here is something to believe in!

I thought that was old news, or am I thinking of one of the myriad arrowverse shows, with apparently 2 more incoming in Star Girl and Superman: Lois & Clark
