The gaming market had changed so much since 2004.
If wow was released today, and it was completely new, i’m pretty sure it wouldn’t be as succesfull as it was in 2004 cause of the different type of gamers.
So now we have a game that is not new for many. Well i see it not becoming very popular except for the few who really wanted the nostalgia.

If BfA is so much better, why are you making posts about Classic WoW?

Waiting on your WQs to pop? That's probably why.

The problem with the OP's argument is that it's really only aimed at active subscribers or onetime Vanilla players.

While there are many people who once played WoW and won't again, there are also people who no longer play but will return because the modern game doesn't interest them. Yes, private servers are qualified by the fact they're free, but people don't do unfun things in huge numbers even if there's no cost.

In other words, as a potential player, I'm not looking to expand my WoW experience to something different. I want a simpler, slower, deeper game that has some of the same bygone elements I first experienced in 2007, but is otherwise unknown.

"Nostalgia" underestimates the appeal of old WoW and disinterest in retail alike.

I created an account just to say how wrong people are that think that wow classic is bad.
Current day wow is super shiny. But thats that. No progression and inflated difficulity for WF guilds that gets deflated after the first kills.
Items mean gobshit. The weekly chest could give me just a ilvl increase instead of a "celestial analbead of bondage" because its just that an ilvl increase.
Current day wow kills off zones that were worked hard on by many talented people like its nothing. They have so many insanely good zones yet dont use them in any way. (W8 for nazjatar and mechagon you wont return to zuldazar and kultiras)
Its the same formulaic bullshit every new expansion since wotlk.
And dont get me started on side activities. Proffesions mean NOTHING you CANT make decent gold in wow anymore because proffesions have become something that increases the ilvl of two of your gear slots (belt and leggings) you know how long it took me to gey from 0 to 150 in blacksmithing and craft 415ilvl gear? 1hour.
That means i have mastered the proffesions in 1 hour and crafted everything it can give me in 1 HOUR.
While people say that Wow classic has flaws i do agree. But to be honest BFA has much more of them (by a bloody mile).
In wow classic levelling was fun and personal.
In wow classic proffesions had different paths, were hard and had an endgame meaning.
In classic there was a sense of community and not just LFR.
In Classic every class had a Face and wasnt just some wet power dream.
Ive been playing wow since the first beta. Im still playing wow. All my friends quit playing wow pre cataclysm.
They are coming back for classic. Job or no job.
We know we gonna have fun.
    Because that is Classic, fun.
    Peace

As for "being wrong," you can convince yourself that you're right but that doesn't change the reality of the situation. Keep telling yourself I'm wrong. I love to see you struggle against your subconscious.
I cried to the moderators? You're incorrect in your assumptions. But now you've solidified your personality.

You will never win this argument as you are 100% incoherent in your thinking. Not sure why you keep trying. And you did logout because you knew you made a fool of yourself.

Specs in bfa are boring due to excessive and misguided pruning.
Specs in vanilla were boring because many of their most interesting abilities didn't even exist yet. Most classes were also pigeonholed to be only healers, or only dps.

To obtain pvp gear in bfa you have to do pve because the gear you obtain from pvp is just not as good.
To obtain pvp gear in vanilla you had to do pve, because the gear you could get in pvp just wasn't as good.

I just love how OP become defensive little girl as soon as someone started shitting on his precious modern wow.

    To OP:
Please name 5 features that were 100% improved, that we couldn't find downsides to.
Feature improvements that didn't make game less social/interactive/immersive/realistic/remove RPG elements etc. Name features that improved game in all of these elements without downgrade in any of them.

The naysayers are literally full of shit at this point. Its overwhelmingly clear that Classic will be a resounding success. Will there be people that won't like it and prefer retail? Naturally. But there will be millions that will play and prefer classic wow. Private servers are the evidence of that, and the hype around classic only confirms it. Just remember your post here when you turn out to be wrong and learn from it.

You know what you're asking is a mathematical impossibility, right? Not because I'm claiming modern WoW is bad, but because of the sheer number of people involved. The phrase "you cannot please everyone" becomes more and more true the larger the group of people becomes.

And to better exemplify this, I imagine you'd be hard-pressed to find 5 features that were 100% better in the past, that other people can't find any downsides to.

I see people are getting bitter that more than "10 people" are interested in Classic.

That is the deal, the main point in OPs arguments against people saying, that 'classic is not better, but it is different' is that, classic supposedly is indeed worse, and every feature has improved every aspect of the game, and it is dumb to want to have the game back as it was at the start.
    To quote what OP said:

All I have to say to this discussion is: All naysayers and persons in denial that WoW Classic will never happen have been proven wrong, I remember the "wall of no" haha, must feel real bad. And now they moved to the next topic. "It will die, it sucks, just nostalgia just wait and see". Yup, wait and see. You were wrong once, the probability for you being wrong again increases with every consecutive argument (since our side is winning)

Classic WoW will save Blizzard and the WoW franchise.

I played Vanilla on launch day. One of the oldest accounts you can find. I actually played the beta since 2003.

I've been one of the most skeptical people with Classic and nostalgia. But i have to say after watching many, many streams. I am ready to play classic. Its not just nostalgia, it looks really fun.

  13. #113
I didn't start raiding till MoP. I did start playing in vanilla but I wasn't doing anything then. Running around doing quest and getting ganked. If I play classic I'll be doing end game stuff so it'll all feel new and exciting to me.

I don't like modern WoW so much right now and I've been playing since beta... all these features, all these improvements they sucked the life out of this game to make it convenient to give me dopamine hits but it's all just noise to me now.. it all feels pointless, i see the treadmill beneath my feet.

I used to get excited seeing a fat crit but now I crit so often so fast, all i look at is my dps on a meter. (Record crit on beta: 214, aww yiss).
I used to stare at peoples armor sets in Ironforge and see the effort they put into their toon, now I can't tell who is a pro raider and who has got a good tmog.
I used to be surrounded by players in cities, now they are empty due to phasing.
I used to be a nobody, now i'm stormaster 9000 who has vanquished the most powerful of foes, my character is a hero/champion now, not an adventurer.
I used to socialise with others to achieve my goals because the game forced me to, now it accomodates my social ineptitude.
I used to care about my character because I poured months into forging it but now it really doesn't matter because I can buy a new one or level one to max in about 2-3 weeks.
I could go on, you get the picture.

But that's all okay, because maybe you want to be a hero and do huge dps and have a cool transmog and fly around super fast and get really powerful super fast... that's your choice and I respect that; but after all my recent hands on experience with classic WoW - I'm so excited.

You know it's funny, I wanted to hate it too but this dangerous old world feels like home to me and I've missed it ever so without even realising. It's been 9 years since I stepped foot in these zones I've forgotten so much of it.. I even caught a little bit of that wonder.

It won't be for everyone but I'd be lying if I said there wasn't an audience for it.

What I noticed when I tried out BFA again is how much it plays like a mobile game, call me crazy but it is possible for blizzard to move modern WoW to mobile and keep classic WoW on a subscription based system and expand on it later.

  16. #116
It's a different game. If people prefer Classic over current WoW, there's your reality. Like many, many MMO releases (full games and expansions) there is always that initial hype that will eventually settle down to those who do thoroughly enjoy the game. That could be BFA, Classic, GW2, FFXIV, etc.

Millions of players playing classic wow? You have literal rocks in your head.

Classic wow will no doubt surge in popularity when released, but if it ever reaches 1 million actual players, rather than "i already pay for wow so i made a character and got to level 7', ill eat my hat.

Naw man I have no interest in playing BfA nor paying blizz for it.
I will play classic the first day it comes out and will stay subbed for a long time, without ever intending to switch the retail.

same as why some young people are conservative and idealize a time before the were born
Well, youngsters in the 1960's had objectively better standards of living, so it's understandable (to a degree, at least) that those times are being idealised now. Sure, there were a lot of other issues back then, but saying that it was all !@#$ is the same than the proverbial rose-tinted glasses.

All of these threads are fucking stupid.

I raid mythic, and still enjoy that aspect of the game. That's why I play live. I also like RPGs, and Classic WoW was a fucking fantastic RPG. Retail WoW is decidedly not an RPG - It's practically lobby based at this point.

The part I'm most exicted for? About a couple of months in when all of the twats fuck off and start complaining on here, leaving only the people who appreciate a genuine RPG experience, who have patience, and genuinely enjoy the community aspects.

Classic isn't polished, and it's not supposed to be. There are a bunch of things that are downright annoying, tedious and time-consuming, but that's sort of the whole point. The convenience of live WoW comes at the cost of immersion, investment in your character, and investment in your server community. The sooner people who fundamentally don't get this concept piss off, the sooner the adults who do get it can have fun without being plagued by masses of fuckheads.

By way of example, I remember when dungeons were a chilll, social experience. That's not bullshit - it used to be a pretty cool time, partly because the reality of taking breaks between pulls for mana and managing threat almost necessitated a slower pace. There is a place for chain pulls and sexually frustrated 14 year olds, but thankfully that's not a playstyle that's even possible in Classic. It's a different experience entirely, and while I do enjoy the pace of live, I'll be glad to have the option to play a different game which doesn't appeal to those cunts.
