What's the point of debating something with no details. Thread should just be locked unless OP cleans this shit up. It's like trying to determine fault of a car crash you never saw.

Actually, the US has a very high poverty rate.

This puts it in an easy-to-read format which you'll need, otherwise just follow the source and compare the US to actual developed nations on the OECD website.

I have a hard time seeing a scenario where a paintbull gun can be mistaken for an actual gun.

Duh...PAINTBALLS. They wanted to repaint his fence. Brushes just happened to look like guns.

Kids who live in poverty are taken care of through social programs. There is a reason people are risking their life to come to the US and not the other way around.

Firing a gun into the air is reckless, dangerous, and in the vast majority of cases, illegal. What goes up, must come down.

A paintball gun is easy enough to confuse with a real gun, making it perfectly plausible that the guy believed he was acting in self defence against a real threat to his life and those of his family members. Given that a person died, there needs to be an investigation, and it is entirely possible that the facts may tell another story, in which case there would be more severe consequences. But taken at face value, this does seem to me like a case in which the father does not deserve to be criminally convicted.

That's not to say that America's gun culture isn't a significant contributor to this problem. But you can't blame the individual for that particular context.

I've played enough paintball to know murdering someone who shoots one at you isnt justified.

You're outranked in poverty by Israel, Costa Rica and South Africa, congrats. That includes kids, adults and the elderly. If you had PROPER social programs, this might not have been the case.

Nope. Since gangs exists in most countries to some degree. A lot of people, like myself, could not care less what others in countries classify us as. Many of us wish more felt like we were not a place many want to immigrate to.

And most of the poverty is in innercities control by a party that favors to distribute wealth and keep people poor. You do realize nation bashing is against the forum rules right?

You're slamming the US in a thread about gun violence, you cherry pick your facts and don't understand reality. You judge a country you never even been to.

Forgive me if I don't take a person seriously, a person who compared painting a fence with a brush to firing paintball guns. You would make an excellent lawyer.

    Just google "military paintball markers"

Not exactly easy to spot at a distance, and some of them don't even have the ball hoppers/CO2 canisters visible. No idea what the kids in OP used, but they definitely look authentic in many cases.

They sound nothing like real guns though to be fair.
You were good, kid, real good. But as long as I'm around, you'll always be second best, see?

Yet another reason why 'stand your ground' laws are dumb. They give too much killing power to untrained civilians.

What happened to firing at houses with slingshots and then being chased away with the broom, the millenniols are at it again?
