Biologically it is always better to be cold, because you'll survive more often than not in colder environments. Our bodies evolved to deal with them because higher sources of external heat are rarer on Earth naturally.

Yes, we have sweat to cool off, but that has the caveat of being linked to blood volume. Without water you'll die, but in the same degree of coldness your body will burn brown fat to keep homeostasis, and even then you won't die until your temp drops significantly. You'll definitely die of dehydration before the high temp can denature your proteins and kill you that way.

Pretty much this. You can get pretty close to perfect insulation to cover the cold, but there are limits to how far you can go when it is hot...and you don't want to see me get even close to that level of trying to cool off...

Rather it be cold but only mildly. Like 30-40F any colder and I'd be super miserable I'm sure. Having lived in a hot n humid area my whole life I'm quite over it. The winters we get down here are just right

As someone from a warm place, particularly with humidity, cold is the answer

Cold. Like sub-60F all the time. Maybe once or twice it can get above 80 just for some pool fun. Society doesn't need my dad bod walking around nudie.

Heat actually make me sick. Headache and diareah are usual in summer. I just hate this weather since a kid.

And smelling sweat in any somewhat closed public space is just disgusting.

I used to vastly prefer cold over hot.

And then I got a car, and cold wasn't so awesome anymore...

Now, I don't really favor one over the other anymore. There are negatives and positives to both.

I'd rather live in a colder climate and visit a hot climate than the other way around. So I guess cold.

Though I'd prefer living where there are 4 seasons and substantial differences in yearly temperatures. Norfolk, Virginia up to about the Montreal seems to suit me. The Carolina's and South are too warm for me, Northern Canada, is too cold, presumably this is a part of the reason why nearly everyone in Canada lives so close to the US border.

Challenge Mode : Play WoW like my disability has me play:
You will need two people, Brian MUST use the mouse for movement/looking and John MUST use the keyboard for casting, attacking, healing etc.
Briand and John share the same goal, same intentions - but they can't talk to each other, however they can react to each other's in game activities.
Now see how far Brian and John get in WoW.

Prefer cold to hot as well. Hate the sweating and grossness of heat/humidity.

You also have to deal with streets not being plowed as well as snow and ice causing potholes to form. And if it is getting plowed getting stuck behind a gravel truck is always fun.
Cold doesn't necessarily mean icy, it just means cold.

what is hot and what is cold?

I prefer hot, i really am not bothered unless it is over 35C. As for cold goes, nowadays its around 12C and i really hate it. It just makes me uncomfortable and my hands are cold all the time (thats probably a health issue).

I have never had to endure very cold weather (sub 0) except specific days (living in Buenos Aires).

You can do things to cool off when you're hot besides taking off clothes. Stay in the shade, fans, AC, jump in the pool, cool water.

As someone who has lived in both cold and hot climates - Hot - Southern AZ, FL / Cold - Upstate NY, Northern CO, I much prefer hotter climates. I can't stand being cold and don't want to have to look like the Michelin man in clothes to stay warm. However, humidity is the worst and it doesn't matter if it's hot or cold, humidity sucks. Hot and dry climate is the best.

If you want to calculate the perfect temperature, you can use this formula.

If you have Celsius (C in the formula) and want Fahrenheit:
    {(C*9/5) +32}*0 + 60
    =60°F

If you have Fahrenheit (F in the formula) and want Celsius:
    {(F -32)*5/9}*0 + 16
    =16°C

More seriously and on-topic- it's Winter here and it's getting colder and I still prefer the cold to the heat.
Admittedly, it seldom gets very cold here, and in 32 years, I still have never even seen snow.

My comfort zone is 50-70. So I favor cooler temps.
That typed out...I understand why earlier generations preferred hot temps. Cold is miserable and kills far more than Hot.

16°C/60°F may be the optimal temperature for you (and others in this thread, apparently), but that's hardly an universal preference. Mine is -10°C/14°F outdoors, if it's both dry and not windy; up to +10°C/50°F, depending on the various combinations of humidity, wind and cloud coverage. I believe that dry cold is awesome and I tend to use the following line of thinking: if there's exposed skin around me, the usual suspects aside (scalp/face/neck/hands), then it's simply too warm.
