exact opposite for me. i got glasses when i was around 14 and have worn them ever since (im 33 now). from time to time i wear contacts for special occasions where glasses are a pain, and everytime i see myself without them ... it just looks wrong. like its not me.

    i like my glasses.

and i have to agree, that glasses can make people more attractive. a female friend of mine once asked a group of my male friends if they think that glasses make you unattractive (a guy mentioned it to her), and almost unanimosly we all laughed and said no. some even said they like her better with glasses.

I got mine at 33, and couldn't adjust. I hated them, i hated looking in the mirror, and i couldn't stand to wear them.

I didn't feel like myself, and instantly felt 100% less attractive. I also feel the opposite about attraction to glasses, i've never heard someone in 40 years on this planet say "they'd be hot if only they had some specs on.."

I was so happy to get lasik and toss my glasses. Never again.

My eyes are too dry for contact lenses, so I wear glasses. I pick frames I like and that make ME happy. The rest of the world can bugger off if they don't like them. Anyone that wouldn't like a person purely because they do or don't wear glasses is shallow as hell and better off avoided.

    To answer your question generally:

Objectively, it depends upon the face/frame pairing. Subjectively, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder." So, some people might not like a particular face with particular (or any) glasses, while others will love the look.

My mom always pushed contact lenses on me growing up (I started wearing glasses in 6th grade), throwing out the old "guys don't make passes at girls who wear glasses" chestnut (ick), but I found the opposite to be true. The reality (at least in the US) is that a lot of guys have a "sexy librarian" fetish, thanks to porn and the media. For those guys in particular, eyeglass frames (at least of a certain, general type) add greatly to a female's visual and sexual appeal.

I dont know why Allah didnt make all have perfect vision.

They are predominantly a tool, not a fashion element. That being said: Those hipster/nerd glasses with big dark frames make anyone look completely stupid and/or douchy. Anything else is fine I guess.

I've never encountered anyone that looks better with glasses than without.
I have tried contacts 2 times now, and I just cannot do them they change focus and go blurry randomly every time I blink, that and I have a hardcore Astigmatism in my Right eye which pretty much makes it impossible to get contacts that actually work, add the fact that I am around Machining Dust and crap in the air all day in our Fabrication shop to the mix and Contacts just aren't an option for me. As much as I hate Glasses I cannot see with contacts in.

Except you'll have to eventually have to have the Surgery again. A bunch of my friends that got Lasik in their late 20's early 30's are now 8-10 years later having to wear glasses again and having to have the surgery again.

Yeah, i'll be happy to sit under a light for legit .5 seconds if it means no glasses for the rest of my life.

Secondly, there's 2 types of lasik... more modern lasik you NEVER need it again and provides perfect vision for life.

The older Lasik (sadly the type i had to have due to my eye curve or something) will likely need another dose in 20 years, and you know what? that's fine.

Anything before i wear glasses again. Never again.

Depends on the frames. Big thick ones or ones that are way to over stated look tacky. But a good pair that compliments the face not over powers it look good.

I like drinking from them! I definitely prefer them to plastic cups.

Depends on the face; depends on the frames.

Has the phrase "Man, you know what would make that person hot? Some glasses!" ever been uttered?

Sure, why not? Can definitely look nice in some people.
There is a reason people spend silly amounts on designer accessories such as glasses even thoes they might not really need them.

Personally though, I use contact lenses but still.

I love the way women look with glasses on. Makes them look smarter. Just a fetish I have or something else.

No, but the same could be said about specific haircuts.
But once you see it you go - “yes, this is a good thing”.

I can 100% say that I'm not enough of a shithead to judge people based on what they wear to improve their eyesight.
Classic WoW is 10% gameplay and 90% talking about "how much better it is than Retail WoW" in in-game chats, Youtube Videos, Twitch or ALL the forums.

    ha true enough.

I personally hated wearing my glasses, and i think my last straw was (i own a bulldog) and he would play and accidentally catch my glasses at angles that would push into my nose and felt like he would almost but not quite break my nose several times. That last time was my "i'm getting lasik" moment.

Maybe it's because i didn't get them until my 30's, but i just couldn't ever get used to wearing glasses and never liked it.

They're useful for holding water and other liquids generally used for drinking.

As someone that has had the procedure done back 10 years ago, it was the best money I ever spent. There was a few percentage points of needing additional procedures, with 1.5% chance of getting worse vision. I confess that even with a 95% chance of success, that percentage point or so of worse vision weighed rather heavily. It doesn't sound like much of a gamble but it's my eyes y'know!

Went directly to bed and when I woke up it was new world. Damn near wept. Gave myself a headache looking at...well, everything.
