What a terrible collection of ideas you've assembled.

Talent trees were great, if anything we needed more branches and more points, because reaching the top of that tree for that signature ability was epic.

Pandaria talents were lacking, and having goods rows and bad rows meant you were constantly losing out on true customization.

The classes are shells of themselves now without gear/legendaries etc, by design.

There is no such thing as class balance so stop wasting everyone's time.

It sounds like you just want to play overwatch or diablo, so just go do that.

What choices? Most of the players use the same build per class/spec. Talents are meaningless.

I would gladly welcome the removal of talents. Would force blizzard to actually structure the specs more. And it may even improve diversity between specs by removing the same talent row across multiple specs of a same class.

Talent isnt choice, it's a illusion of choice. You can only pick right or pick wrong.

A few specs have a few decent row, where choice is actually offered. But that is rare. And expecting Blizzard to expend this quality to every single one is a foolish dream. I would rather have every spec with a strong core design without any bandaid fix from talent buffs.

Easy, just remove all the talent trees.
Next, make all spells and abilities mechanically the same and do the same damage, just change the way they look.

There you go, you've got your balance that you so fondly desire. Hope you enjoy.

Not always. Only raiders and PvP'ers mostly.

no, but instead we should get rid of the entire mechanical development staff for the game.
that would actually fix some of the problems killing the game, like the poor design of post-MoP classes which led to the current meaninglessness of talents.

see in MoP each row waas regualted to a single role niche, be it AoE, mobility, survivability, and even rotation changers.
now in a post-WoDdening the talent tree have neither progressed or expanded, instead blizzard has removed baseline skills from several classes to stock the talent and pvp-talent systems after they removed talents from the trees to make their jobs easier to do.

in short no, it's not time for the talent trees to go, it's time Ion was removed.

we had both balance and build diversity in MoP, this exaggerated to absurdity argument falls flat when this very thing was done and done well before the game was handed over to a bunch of inept retards.

balance isn't, and has never been, hard. it's merely a factor of numbers over time.
it's just that the incumbent devs at blizzard have never bothered to do it(or even thought it necessary as blizzard itself has never valued a balanced game), i assign MoP's balance to xelnath almost entirely.
xelnath was the first dev to address the lack of development in shamans at all.

In all honesty, I wouldn't mind this. As a demon hunter, there's a certain playstyle I attribute with it (Demonic). I genuinely would hate to play anything else, as it feels iconic to me. That being said, if it was anything other than what I personally want, I would hate it. I'm sure others feel the exact same way, so it would be very polarizing no matter what choices were made

HA! You assume incorrectly that they would jst give you acess to all talents.

    Not gonna happen.

I just love the way swtor does talents, where they are almost all just utilities. They should do that in wow aswell. Of course, i already pointed out before that the pvp talent system is vastly superior to the talent system. Put all talents on a pool. Give them a cost and let us have a quota that lets us allocate the ones we want. Simple and offers player choice. It's not constricted to "this row must do the same thing in 3 different ways",

Every 1-X levels, you get a point to spend on either the holy or protection tree. (It'd be like the old trees in size.) You can mix and match as you choose, eventually adding a sustained raid DPS booster or off-heal boost or extra survivability cooldown (depending on your alternate specs.) at max level. Maybe even both. Giving every raider access to a long-cooldown last stand (or similar) would give the raid design team another variable to mess with to make cool fights. Same with DPS with heal specs able to step in and help heal for, say, a 30 second mana-free hasty heal phase every 5-10 minutes (as needed).
Love this idea. I would take it further and allow people to put ability points in other classes specs as well (as straight DPS classes, i.e. mage, rogue, have no access to a major surviveability cool down like last stand or heals). Classes wouldn't need to be as homogenized in their baseline this way either.

As someone who played a Demo/Destro warlock.. haha yeah, nah we really didn't.
MoP was probably by far the least balanced expansion we've had besides ArP WotLK-era. You can't even begin to bring up MoP and balance in the same sentence when Unerring Vision of Lei-Shen existed, Destro warlocks existed, early expansion BM hunters and stacking Heroic Strike buff for Arms.

The player base has come to accept this mentality...

Yes. Let's remove one cookie cutter build style for another. Great idea
