Hurray, we are one step closer to...
    Well, nothing.
We are one step closer to talentless mumble rappers and the Kardashians going into private space holidays. Oh and Elon can be even more billionaire. Yaay for humanity.

The Artemis Program is scheduled to run into the 2030s. We can go 6 to 9 months without anything major happening. This thread isn't being necroed - its just major updates take a long time. Think of it like a thread for a TV show. You have 2-3 months with a season, and then 9-10 months with nothing going on. We're not launching people to the moon everyday.

While I'm here, you might find this fascinating. The Astronauts for the 22nd Astronaut group were selected in January. Some of these people will probably land on the moon and maybe even Mars.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artemis_program

On 10 January 2020, NASA's 22nd astronaut group, nicknamed the "Turtles", graduated and were assigned to the Artemis program. The group includes two Canadian Space Agency (CSA) astronauts. The group earned their nickname from the prior astronaut group, "The 8-Balls," as is a tradition dating back to "The Mercury Seven" in 1962 which subsequently provided the "Next Nine" with their nickname. They were given this name, for the most part, because of Hurricane Harvey. Some of the astronauts will fly on the Artemis missions to the Moon and maybe part of the first crew to fly to Mars.[102]

Kayla Barron (born 1987): Lt., U.S. Navy
    Zena Cardman (born 1987): Biologist
Raja Chari (born 1977): Col., U.S. Air Force
Matthew Dominick (born 1981): Lt. Cmdr., U.S. Navy
Bob Hines (born 1975): NASA research pilot
Warren Hoburg (born 1985): assistant professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics, MIT
Jonny Kim (born 1984): Lt., U.S. Navy physician, former U.S. Navy SEAL
Robb Kulin (born 1983): Launch Chief Engineer, SpaceX – Resigned in August 2018 before completing his training.[103]
Jasmin Moghbeli (born 1983): Maj., U.S. Marine Corps
Loral O'Hara (born 1983): research engineer, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution
Francisco Rubio (born 1975): Maj., U.S. Army
Jessica Watkins (born 1988): Geologist, postdoctoral fellow, California Institute of Technology
Joshua Kutryk (born 1982): LCol, Canadian Armed Forces, test pilot, fighter pilot, engineer
Jenni Sidey (born 1988): Mechanical engineer, combustion scientist, and lecturer[104]
Commercial Crew and Artemis are two completely different programs. The astronauts on Demo 2 were not part of the Turtles, as they were literally flying space shuttles while the Turtles weren't even training to become astronauts yet.

Dragon can last 140ish days in LEO. It isn't rated or planned to be rated for the Van Allen Belts or beyond. Neither is Boeing's pod, Starliner.
Of crafts that are currently either planned to be rated, or are currently rated for human crew beyond LEO, we have three spacecraft listed. Orion, Starship, and a untitled Chinese craft.

Grow up. The rare moron who will go up in space will literally pay to others to do something useful.
Also, we are very far from actually often visiting the space. There will be few persons, who are willing to burn millions of USD, plus, they have to pass the tests - shitload of them won't.
While Elon might be getting richer (his stunts will one day cost him dearly), he is also clearly paving the way to Moon and then to Mars - so actually yeah, go humanity!

They should have had him sign it in a water-soluble marker.

There are many technologies that have come from NASA and space travel.

com crew and Artemis are two completely different programs with completely different goals. Can we get a thread for com crew please?

That, or just rename this thread to something generally about spaceflight

    Shit.

Born to late for early discovery of the planet and even the moon landing.
Born to early to discover the stars or even set a foot on the moon.

As with every project ever, the timeline will double or triple before they reach their goals.

Makes me very jealous of the people who will live in 100 years from now. They're going to have some crazy shit if we survive till then.

I seen this before, on the contrary we live in a time when a lot of advancements are happening and see it play out in front of our eyes. But, I still feel the same. Maybe in 50 years the world will be more peaceful, or might, just may, it might be going downhill even further with us loosing out "humanity".

Maybe in 1000 years, 10,000 years, people will wish to live earlier in our history.

That's just one version of the story lol. In another, Orion was a rapist and Zeus made him a constellation

The Dragon spacecraft program is part of the Artemis program. Dragon spacecraft technology will be used in flights to the moon. These are being tested in the recent ISS launch. They are connected programs.
TO FIX WOW:1. smaller server sizes & server-only LFG awarding satchels, so elite players help others. 2. "helper builds" with loom powers - talent trees so elite players cast buffs on low level players XP gain, HP/mana, regen, damage, etc. 3. "helper ilvl" scoring how much you help others. 4. observer games like in SC to watch/chat (like twitch but with MORE DETAILS & inside the wow UI) 5. guild leagues to compete with rival guilds for progression (with observer mode).6. jackpot world mobs.

The Dragon cargo capsule is part of Artemis, the crew capsule is not. They don't even plan to refuse the capsules for Artemus. It doesn't really matter unless you want to be technical about it.

The crewed Dragon capsule has as much to do with Artemis as the shuttles.

because space X is financed mainly by NASA money - without those it would never exist.

it was the only way to transfer silently bilions of dollars.

Did you just try to compare Dragon 2 Crew Variant to Dragon XL?
@PACOX is this guy for real?
This guy is comparing two unlike things and saying they are the same.

In the story I heard about Artemis and Orion, Orion was Artemis' hunting partner.

The story about the dude who came upon her while she was bathing wasn't Orion. At least in the stories I heard.
