    Nazjatar's Retcons

There seem to be a few major retcons in Nazjatar, or at least it is quite confusing how they are handled.

    1. First and foremost, Zin-Azshari's pristine state right before the Sundering.
Apart from changing Azshara's location from her palace to a random market in the city, the metropolis is in a perfect shape. At least that is what we can see in the Warbringers video. Also, the ghostly Ara-Hinam refugees mention that after the demons destroyed their town, they went to Zin-Azshari where the people doesn't even believe them. This might be funny considering the capital was utterly destroyed by the demons pouring from the Well standing right to their side.

    2. Second, Nazjatar and & N'Zoth's location.
Lorewise Nazjatar was supposed to be in the Maelstrom or at least very close to it. But instead there's no mention of it nor visual effect on the horizon of the zone or anything. And N'Zoth's prison was more or less supposed to be between Kul Tiras and Zandalar. This last one could be explained if what we have in the Eternity Palace is not the Old God prison but something else or just a far corner of the prison maybe.

There might be some more but these are the most important ones.

Zin-Azshari was immense in size and scope, and in the "Warbringers: Azshara" cinematic we see only a small portion of it - it would be difficult to say what the overall state of the city was at the time of the Sundering and close of the War of the Ancients. Ara-Hinam was probably one of the settlements destroyed by the marauding Legion doomguards, many of whose survivors gathered at Black Rook Hold, but some might have been closed to Zin-Azshari and made the regrettable decision to seek safety there. The Highborne, being sequestered even within Zin-Azshari, weren't aware of the what the Legion was actually up to - most of them being too busy scurrying to fulfill Azshara's every command or implied desire.

Nazjatar is close to the Maelstrom, but probably not so close that you could see from there (or else they simply opted not to render it in-game). Azshara's Eternal Palace is a new construction, built at some point in the 10,000+ year span between the Sundering and the present day. It was likely situated on or near N'Zoth's prison on purpose - a reflection of respect for Azshara's newfound patron.

Well, we can do you blood and love without the rhetoric, and we can do you blood and rhetoric without the love, and we can do you all three concurrent or consecutive. But we can't give you love and rhetoric without the blood. Blood is compulsory. They're all blood, you see." ― Tom Stoppard, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead

Blizzard doesn't really know themselves, what is or isn't canon anymore. If you take the WotA books, most of the city and population were destroyed, except for Azshara's large palace. Then you have the location which Azshara the zone actually has the remains of the city already there... it even has a big curvy coast to show where the Well of Eternity used to be.

Then you have the Caverns of Time dungeon where they stick to the Palace is all that's still standing as everything else is in the surrounding area is destroyed but they make the Well of Eternity a swimming pool...

And now we're back to the Well of Eternity being the size of massive lake, but now most of(all from what we see) of the city is intact with no signs of a battle anywhere and Azshara is out with the people. Oh and the location of the city is now on the eastern side of the Maelstrom.

The city wasn't massive enough to cover so much land and most of it was destroyed by the demons. Blizzard doesn't care for established lore, they bend it all the time to fit the current "content" and still people find ways to defend and justify it :/

They always do stuff like this. Remember how in WCIII the Sunwell was in the middle of Silvermoon and simply got corrupted? In the manga it blew up. And in game the not blown up Sunwell is on a different island.

The Maelstrom should be where the Well was. So how big IS Zin-Azshari. Cause nobody will tell me that the Well of Eternity was miles away from the capital.
