The abject hatred of Sanders is IMHO living proof that many are purely interested in politics as purely a team sport for people who suck at real sports. Sanders presents a difficult challenge, he is a big ideas guy with an actual goal of doing some policy proposals that might actually change things.

For a lot of unthinking types, what they simply want is a "natural governing party", what they want is a manager or technocrat to run things and allow them to remain in a state of peaceful slumbering unawareness while the former "Smart Kids" now P.M.C Strivers run everything.
