Britain will soon get “slapped in the face” for last week's capture of an Iranian supertanker, a cleric was quoted as saying Friday amid rising tensions between the two nations in the Gulf.

Cleric Kazem Sedghi, an adviser to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, told worshipers during Tehran’s Friday prayer sermon broadcast live on Iranian state TV that the United Kingdom should be worried for their actions off the coast of Gibraltar.

“Iran’s strong establishment will soon slap Britain in the face for daring to seize the Iranian oil tanker,” he said.

The Iranian Revolutionary guard tried to capture a British oil tanker but backed off when a British warship arrived. If that warship wasn't following the tanker, we'd be seeing British hostages on TV right now.

That failed and now they are getting desperate with the sanctions and the enforcement of them when the Brits captured one of their tankers headed for Syria. tldr; like he said, the US has stealth drones if they want to hang out in Iranian airspace. they would not risk having a 200 million dollar drone shot down by flying it over Iranian airspace.

Iran is not Iraq. The US could beat Iran in a war but the costs would 10x greater than the aftermath of Iraq. The US can still dominate this game but the current admin is playing chess like its checkers, which is going to lead us into some shit that could've been avoided and that we'll regret.

Personally I think the drone came close to Iranian airspace but veered off, and whoever was in charge of firing had a twitchy finger and decided to fire on it thinking that it was in their airspace.

Who knows, maybe it was an honest mistake by them?
