anti PC pro free speech republicans BAN pelosi from speaking

Huh weird how in 2016 and they still do run on this whole " oh were all for free speech and against political corectness, sure we have russian bots, but we cant ban the russian bots because free speech and what not man" but once pelosi decided to be politically incorrect and say she believed the president was a bigot, house republicans BANNED HER FROM SPEAKING.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/polit...=.75d6e79ccbe2

more proof the whole " anti PC" thing is just a russian propaganda operation and they will gladly silence anyone who disagrees with them or criticizes their emperor. just look how they have "silenced" multiple churches in the south

I see you didn't read the story you linked, it's not hard to comprehend what happened. I feel you either had trouble understanding what was wrote or this is faux outrage.

nancy pelosi did a SPEECH where she criticized the president and republicans BANNEd her from speaking, atleast shes the speaker so she got rid of the rule made in the slavery era that you couldnt call a politician racist ( wonder if theres a connection there?) and unbanned herself, if it was republicans in power theyd definitely keep that rule because they love silencing criticism,

You mean like being outraged at the person calling out racism instead of the racism itself?

Well, racists do tend to be authoritarians who want to silence dissent. It's no surprise that people will try and justify this.

So you have trouble reading I see.

After 90 minutes, the House ruled the words out of order, as no member can call the president “racist” on the House floor, according to Thomas Jefferson’s Manual of Parliamentary Practice, which was written by Jefferson when he presided over the Senate and which the House adopted in 1837. Ironically, Pelosi appears to have violated House rules again during this process by leaving the chamber while her remarks were under review.

She broke the rules, maybe she should learn the fucking rules? Maybe you shouldn't cherry pick parts of a story just to fit your agenda?

So, you support rules that protect racists? Good to know. It's a shame that people don't support freedom of speech... and all to protect racists.

You justifying it, with a rule from 1837, isn’t him cherry picking. That’s not what cherrypicking means...

It's not about supporting the rules, its about following them. If you don't like the rule, move to change it. Until then, you may be forced to follow those rules. If you don't, you may have to deal with the repercussions.

Pretty much this, along with Kathandira's post (I really suck with post formatting or I'd quote, sorry).

the rule was literally made when slavery was a big debate topic, the rule was made to help defend slavery, you are defending that rule. That rule is also antithetical to the idea of free speech, which you pretend to be principled on. I guess conservatives should just follow the twitter ToS and not get banned because rules are rules

Luckily, her speech stands, and the GOP were left to try and stifle speech they don't like.

    I do love irony.

thats why they removed the rule it was anthetical to the principle of free speech ( weird conservatives supposedly support free speech, yet are upset pelosi overtuned that rule that you literally cant use your speech to do a certain kind of criticism)

Liberalism was about free speech, classic conservatism was about limiting speech they didn't like. But in today standards Liberals try to silence you while conservatives fight to be heard. Why don't you stick to the topic instead of "hurr durr conservatives" ? Obviously you don't understand how rules work and you also compare the governments rules to twitter which is a huge fucking joke in itself and thatyou are grasping at straws.

Apparently the republicans also broke the rules, maybe they should learn them ?

McCarthy failed to mention that it is a violation of House rules to use Jefferson’s manual as a prop.

And yet, it's the "conservatives" trying to limit speech they don't like. It's "conservatives" who want the government to take control of social media.

This is more sniping at each other than it is discussion. If this can be discussed without breaking forum rules, it should be reopened in the politics sub-forum. closing now...
