I remember the theory that blizzard spoiled the death of tirion because his hearthstone card has a deathrattle effect.
Also interestingly to note that the new expansion features the league of explorers in uldum and 8.2.5 just named the forge of origination as possible key to win against n'zoth.

Nope. Unless they retcon what Dark Rangers were, expect a class that is just pre-revamp Survival Hunters. Possibly with an undead minion.

Well Survival Hunter is one spec. They also seem to have a subtlety rouge spec or something similar. Who says the last can't be some life draining healer? If there is a third, that is.

Well, I think the idea of 9.0 being a Black Empire expansion was just rather thoroughly shot down by some of the stuff in the 8.2.5 PTR. Wrathion in a journal entry refers to the fight against N'zoth as "the true battle for Azeroth."

Honestly I'm not sure where the arrow is pointing on 9.0 right now. Unless Sylvanas somehow weasels out of BFA to be a villain for 9.0 (The Lich King Returns leak goes here) it seems Blizzard decided to just take their entire villain cupboard and throw it all in the trash.

So....... I guess woo Awakenings? Wasn't that half of its point? That there is no villain for 9.0?

Okay. Let us suppose it IS a NE Dark Ranger. Why would it be in WCIII? Night Elf Dark Rangers didn't show up in lore till BfA.

Sure there was no NE Dark Ranger in WC3 but technical and story wise there is no reason why there couldn't be some of them.

Maybe more like Vanilla, where there was no one Big Bad behind everything.
