PvP titles existed I think.

I can’t remember if they changed it in vanilla or later but you couldn’t choose your title. Even if you earned a certain title you had to stay at that PvP rank to use the title. If not,you ranked down and lost your title.

Scarab Lord![]()

The only titles you'd usually see on the general population were PvP titles. And if I remember correctly, the little dropdown that let you change them wasn't a thing (your title would just automatically be your current rank, so for example, you couldn't be a Grand Marshal but change your title to Private, and if you dropped a rank, your title would automatically change from Grand Marshal to whatever rank was below it). I think you could toggle your title on or off though. I could be wrong on those last parts.
And yeah, there was Scarab Lord, but that required you to be involved in a server-first event and wasn't something you saw on common players.

Your CURRENT PvP rank is your title. No previous highest, current.
not scarab lord (patch 2.0.3)
not conqueror (patch 2.1.0)
not justicar (patch 2.1.0)

PvP rank titles (it's easy to get up to Corporal or so for Alliance, and their Horde counterparts, just by casually BGings as you level) and players who build a Scepter of the Shifting Sands, and bang the gong, within 10 hours of the first gong banged after the completion of the AQ war effort will get the Scarab Lord title. Titles didn't really become commonplace until Wrath of the Lich King; in BC there was Hand of A'dal and Champion of the Naaru, as well as Gladiator titles, but I think that's it.
Edit: Apparently the title was added in 2.0.3. So you have your current PvP rank as a title in terms of titles for Classic.

All 3 BG reps have some pretty nice stuff, but I don't think the rep gear is coming in until Phase 2 so stuff like the Highlander three-piece set doesn't compete with Molten Core gear.
Be seeing you guys on Bloodsail Buccaneers NA!
the justicar and conqueror titles being in van wow was a error on my part, they were added in TBC. but, the van wow system to easily gain rep thru WSG quest turn ins was removed prior. not sure if this system will be available with 1.12 classic wow, if it is, it may matter if blizzard releases classic TBC. you will not be able to get this title having 4k-11k honor kills. what was done in 1-2 months, will take 6mo to a year TBC and beyond
WSG rep was not boosted till patch 7.3.5 where flag caps give +100 rep and wins give +100 rep. still a painful grind
titles added in TBC
justicar and conqueror
scarab lord

Are you guys sure that Justicar wasn't in the game? I seem to remember that it was indeed available in Vanilla, just that nothing in-game would tell you that it even existed until you were exalted with the BG factions. I may be wrong though.
Apart from that, ranked PvP titles. The first title that became available to the wide public was Of the Shattered Sun in TBC, it took exalted with Shattered Sun and 1000 gold to get it. I remember being on the edge about buying it became 1000gold was a hefty amount of money back then. How things change.

It was just the PvP titles and the Scarab Lord once AQ hit. PvP titles are really really easy to get though. I think grunt (Horde rank 1) was get 5 HKs.
