Isn't the Heart of Azeroth technically a legendary-level like item? It's an orange item. I don't see a legendary in 8.3, it appears like Blizzard feels it overdid legendary weapons in Legion.

It's an artifact which is stronger than a Legendary. Artifacts are that beige color

And I'm pretty sure that during legion they said they stepped back from that plan because it's not feasible (in one of the early q&As or an interview regarding WoD)

I think it will be incredibly weird if they decide to skip 8.3 and go straight to 9.0, not necessarily bad, but the drought you be real as fuck. I mean, I don't see them pushing 9.0 before summer.

It was essentially the overall most rewarding system and the only downfall was the lack of excitement I guess since you could calculate when you would get it

I'm remembering back, but there were two things I didn't like about it(if I remember correctly, I may be wrong).

1. You have to do, I think maybe 5 bgs. I think you had to win them. I didn't PVP at all before that, so it was an inconvenience.
2. You had to get maybe 5 or 6000 whatever points(not sure exactly how much) for doing in game activities but you could only get 1000 a week, so it was a pain to get on an alt

That is all. Otherwise, yes I loved it too. I also loved legiondaries, but I agree they should have been much more balanced from day 1. If they were perfectly balanced for pvp/pve, then I believe they would have been the best long term reward ever in the game, since grinding them, especially after bad luck protection was added, was a long and difficult, yet fun and rewarding grind that spanned all activities in the game and lasted nearly until the very last raid(or after).

Any long term reward at all is one thing I've missed in BFA. I don't know how they launched without a long term reward that lasted thru tiers(and AP ain't it). I mean, isn't this the first xpak since MOP that didn't have one? Even wod had that ring. Just felt like cut content.

I think the surprise is that there is not going to be an 8.3.
I've been thinking about this more and more recently, and it is starting to make some sense.
The main thing that make me think this is if the war campaign ends in 7.2.5, what could come next?
More so, with blizzcon less than 2 months away, will they really announce 8.3 AND a new expansion?
To me, it seems like 8.3 would have to be already under testing for it to be out in a time frame that would make sense for the expansion.

Its likely coming out next summer right?
So if so, how is there time for ANOTHER whole tier, when the testing hasn't even begun yet?

I Was thinking that there would be an 8.3 and 9.0 announcement at Blizzcon, come to think of it--but you make some really good points. I was just thinking about what may be needed to bridge the gap into the next expac, but the testing cycle is important and for that to be true, it would have to be pretty bunched together.

Sorry but i don't see the point of adding items for the select few. It's a waste of dev time, especially with how quickly they become obsolete. If you are gonna do them then do it like Mists and WoD, but really, it is really far from being a big concern atm. Actually i am surprised you care this much. The game has much bigger problems and you can't wait for orange borders. We don't need legendaries.

Even an intermediate term goal for our character progression would be a big step up from bfa. Working towards set bonuses in raids was a good intermediate term goal imo. What are we working towards in BFA? If feels like you never reach the thing you are chasing, and you aren't even sure what you are chasing or why.

I guess people got upset because they didn't find what was considered the best legendary for their spec.

The Legion-daries were both great and terrible. Great because they were often game-changing items that improved a given class or spec, and terrible because they were left to stupid amounts of RNG.

Some of my characters didn't get their BIS legendaries until like... a month before the patch that let us simply buy them with 1k essences. Some didn't get them UNTIL I bought them with 1k essences. Active toons that I did things with every week.

That sucked.

It was because some specs didn't even function properly without getting the right legendary. They were horribly imbalanced, especially at the start of Legion.

The welfare system? You mean the casino system is ruining the game.

There were plenty of welfares before and it was no problem. Best gear came from the hardest difficulty level. It was Legion and it's RNG that ruined it.

I am not saying that legendaries should never come back, but we got much bigger problems and a legendary is not gonna solve it and might actually just make it worse. Actually the last legendary they did in Antorus was dreadful in how low drop it was. I certainly don't want yet more RNG. Personally if we have a new legendary i do hope it's a deterministic one you can work towards.

Also, i don't care about amazing items like you do. I care about being able to reach a temporary end to the game. So, basically get the BiS kit of the tier and just enjoy/chill for a while. Legendaries just add more headaches to me personally, so i'm not a fan.

The post might've come out stronger than i intended. It is perfectly fine for you to want legendaries. You like them a lot. I don't. It's an opinion thing and it's fine.

Funny thing about this is that gear and progression is rendered moot a few months later into a new patch. So playing the final patch rewards you the same as routinely playing the expansion. Simply put: you'll receive the same rewards for being lazy.

Blizzard also stated Grom Hellscream would be the final boss of WoD when it was announced.
