How likely are Vulpera coming as an Allied Race? Thinking of grinding their rep

Aside of the brewfest mask/mug is there any real proof for them to be allied race? Even Mechagnomes got more build up than then after finishing Vol'dun zone.

Real proof? No. But there is a lot of suggestive proof.

- The In-Game cutscene race condition comment (showed Vulpera, file is only used for playable races otherwise)
- Animations that would otherwise serve no purpose being added to the Vulpera model (Heart of Azeroth animation, for instance)
- Consistent hints keeping the Vulpera linked up with the story (Kiro at Rastakhan's funeral, the Zandalari Unlock chain referencing the Vulpera as Zandalar allies, etc)
- Vulpera Flame Keeper during Fire Festival (pretty sure that's the only non-playable Flame Keeper specific for a faction aside from one in Stormheim, but can't swear to it)

Again, nothing is a complete lock until Blizz announces it, but the evidence seems to be mounting up more and more.

Back to the topic, I'd say they're pretty likely but who knows at this point. They've canned plenty of ideas over the years. As for the "but they have no story!" excuse, y'all forget they have the power to, y'know, write new story when the time calls for it. Void elves were such an asspull I'd be willing to believe almost anything that fits the requirements (must be able to wear armor, ride mounts, and have a female model [sorry, no sethrak, ankoan, jinyu, etc]).

Re: evidence, I also remember seeing mention of an encrypted alpaca mount once, though it's possible that may have been the new RAF camel since the alpaca mobs used camel models during beta.

Vulpera have more customization options than many hitherto released races. They have many MANY unique animations from Goblins, with their pose and movement being chief.

If they weren't happening, we should riot against them spending so much time making an NPC-race playable quality.

As title says i'm thinking of grinding Vulpera rep in case they are coming as allied race in the last patches of the expansion. But how likely is it to happen?

No one knows. But IF they are adding more allied races, they're probably going to slot them in the "content drought" between last raid and next expac (so probably introduced as next expac "pre-order feature", just like they were in BFA).

Right now, Vulpera and Mechagnomes are probably the strongest candidates, but who knows what 8.2.5 and 8.3 bring - the focus might shift completely by the time they start rolling out next expac.

Hmm..in case you didn't know, mmoc has listed vulpera as an allied race almost since the start of bfa. I'm guessing mmoc knows something that us normal players do not. :P

MMOC is listing them due to the preponderance of circumstantial evidence in their favour and the link is a handy place to put some of that circumstantial evidence so that it is easily accessible.

However, MMOC won't know whether they are intended or not.

As the expansion seems to be coming to a close, I feel like they're less and less likely to actually become a playable race. 8.2.5 is going to be wrapping up the war campaign and if there is an 8.3 it will be heading into the next expansion, so unless one of those somehow involves the Vulpera in some aspect of the story, I feel like they missed their window to add them and would basically be shoehorning them into a narrative just to add them.

Frankly, I don't see that happening. The war campaign has taken place between the Alliance and Horde, with early additions of the Nightborne, Mag'har Orcs, and Highmountain Tauren for the the Horde and Dark Iron, Lightforged Draenei, and Void Elves for the Horde before the war even kicked off. As the war campaign progressed, The Horde pursued the Zandalari Trolls and the Alliance pursued the Kul'Tiran Humans for additional aid. After guaranteeing those alliances, the Alliance set off to finish off the Horde only to be interrupted by Queen Azshara.

In the story they're telling the Vulpera basically fell away to the wayside, essentially a forgotten / ignored side story from a single zone. Same goes for Mechagnomes, they exist on a small island in a small revolt against their current leader, but have no real reason to help us in our future pursuits.

It would make much more sense at this point for the Horde to befriend the Gilgoblins and the Alliance to befriend the Ankoan as Allied races as they're the factions that actually helped us in our continued fight against each other / the bigger threat.

The thing with gilgoblins and ankoan is that "no one" wants them. They are not interesting races. Oh i'm sure there are people who want gilgoblins and jinuy lookalike race, but the number should be far smaller than, for example, people who want vulpera.

Gilgoblins are like ugly goblins. Arent goblins one of the least played races on horde side? Why would blizz make ugly version of them?
Same goes for mechagnomes, but blizz made mechagon island so blizz has excuse there.
Ankoan/jinuy arent very interesting race. Ankoan just popped up in nazjatar.

The ankoan problem kind of applies to vulpera too. They just popped up at vol'dun. The difference here is that lots of people have shown interest to them.

Biggest problem with vulpera as allied race is that, if horde gets them, what does alliance get? Mechagnomes?


As far as any race goes, even if they fit lorewise, they might not be an interesting race that blizz should spend time on. They would get more interest in game, if races they release are interesting. Vulpera would at least gather interest of people who like that sort of stuff.

I can't honestly see it happening. Every allied race thus far have just been alternate and often reskinned versions of the existing playable races. For example:

Draenei - Lightforged Draenei
Tauren - Highmountain Tauren
Blood Elves - Void Elves
Night Elves - Nightborne
Dwarves - Dark Iron Dwarves
Orcs - Mag'har Orcs
Human - Kul'Tiran Humans
Trolls - Zandalari Trolls

Granted, the latter two have more unique models to their counterparts. But it doesn't change the fact they are humans and trolls.
Vulpera are something completely new and would go against the whole pattern. If we do get new allied races, I'm wagering Mechagnomes and some kind of Undead variant.

Yeah at this point I can't imagine NOT having some more allied races announced at Blizzcon.

Vulpera makes sense for Horde. Although all signs point to the next Alliance Allied race being the Rustbolt resistance, I also can't imagine why they'd suddenly ditch and expel the Horde after all their help. It'd be pretty bad storytelling. OH WAIT, it's Blizzard.
