Worst quest(s) you've done in Classic?

I just recently dinged 60 and did so mostly through questing (Horde side). Here are the quests that jumped out at me as really terrible for a variety fo reasons

    1. Helcular's Rod - Hillsbrad

The first part of this quest involves getting the rod to drop off a Yeti in a cave. The problem is this has to be one of the lowest drop rates in the game. I killed like 100+ yeti for an hour before it dropped. Everyone else was int he cave killing too. Crazy low drop rate and the quest log doesn't even warn you about it, like it does some other low drop rate quests.

The final part of the quest involves putting the rod on a grave in a town surrounded by guards. At this point in the game the guards essentially kill you in 2-3 hits. It's just about impossible to sneak in and do it clean. You either have to corpse hop or have someone else sacrifice themselves to draw the guards away.

    2. Powerstones - Uldaman / Fetishes - Sunken Temple

Same type of quest, collect drops off elite trash mobs. Only problem is the drop rate is extremely poor and you get very few of them INSIDE the dungeons. You mostly get them off trash elites before the dungeon. These are the mobs most people try to skip anyway, getting a group to farm them is very difficult.

    3. Linken - Ungoro

The Link (ala Zelda) inspired quest from UnGoro has some of the worst pointless travel involved. They make you go from UnGoro to Winterspring and back about 3-4 times.

    4. Killing Moonbeasts - Felwood/Winterspring

Ok so an NPC in Felwood wants you to kill Moonbeasts in Winterspring, very inconvenient for the quest giver to not be in the zone you're expected to do the killings. Well the kicker is he keeps sending you back over and over again, to kill specific TYPES of moonbeasts. And you get to the moonbeast camp and there are 3-4 types there, so inevitably you kill lots of hte wrong type, well then he sends you back to kill a different type, it's just ridiculously pointless.

    5. Seal of Ascenion - LBRS

I don't mind attunements, they actually make sense to me. You gotta prove yourself on content X before you are worthy for content Y. That's typically how most attunements in the game work in theory. Wanna go to MC? Ok you gotta do BRD at least once.

Wanna get the UBRS key? Ok well you gotta do LBRS first. In theory the quest should involve a single full clear of LBRS but the way it's designed with the gem drop rates, the average player who is just pugging will have to run LBRS fully on average about 15 times before they get their seal fully complete.

Raptorhearts in Arathi. There is like 10ish of them and the droprate is terrible. And at the time they was like 20 people farming them.
"And all those exclamation marks, you notice? Five?
A sure sign of someone who wears his underpants on his head."

    2. Powerstone - Uldaman: I just dropped it

    5. Seal of Ascenion - LBRS: I think it's fine. The key is supposed to be super exclusive, it's a bummer that rogues can just open it though.

For me one of the worsts is one in Azhsara that tells you to kill 3 types of Satyrs in a camp.
First and second types require 2 kills each.
The third types requires 6!! but those are the most uncommon. I had to wait for like 4 respawns to get it done.

Any and all "Collect x bodyparts from these mobs"

Even better if there's 2 in a row, over an hour worth of nonstop holocausting enemies for 6 of their ears or something.

The issue to me is that these FEEL very frustrating.

In theory "Kill 20 goblins" is the same quest as "Collect 10 items from goblins" (goblins have a 50% drop rate for said item)

however I much prefer the kill 20 because you always feel like you are making progress. Every kill you see/feel progress. It doesn't feel pointless. The item drop ones feel frustrating because when you catch a cold streak on the drop rate it's VERY frustrating.

Job Opening: Guard Captain of Revantusk Village

    Exterminate Vilebranch Berserkers. 0/20

    Exterminate Vilebranch Shadow Hunters. 0/20

    Exterminate Vilebranch Blood Drinkers. 0/20

    Exterminate Vilebranch Soul Eaters. 0/20

The absolute nightmare, for the most awesome melee trinket very memorable

Annals of Darrowshire. The real book has low spawn rate, so you need to pick up potentially dozens of fake ones before it shows up. Fake books spawn 2 level 56 ghouls that apply a stacking debuff reducing strength and stamina by up to a 100. What makes it worse than other collection quest with low droprate is that the spawned ghouls don't give any experience or loot.

Excellent submission. I forgot about it or it'd be on my list. You dont' even come CLOSE to do thing this with a normal playthrough of that area. Unless you sit and grind the mobs there for at least 45 minutes this just isnt' happening.

Anyone who actually says "kill x" or "get x item" is crazy, these are the most enjoyable quests as it means peaceful and easy grinding.

That said the Searing Gorge quest where you need to get an item off those Dark Iron Smiths was pretty bad. There are like 4 spawns (all spawn camped) in the entire zone and the drop rate sucks.

You are intended to pull guards attention as well as be in a group at about lvl30. The previous quest almost requires this unless you are 33+.
And when you turn in at the stone Helcular's ghost pops out and distracts all nearby guards so you can escape without issue.

My worst quest is the Wind totem shaman one. All the other quests require you to go places and talk to elementals then this stupid cow is just like "hey here's your totem" for wind.

It's a Deadmines quest but takes place outside the instance in an obscure tunnel. There are 5-6 elite mobs that drop these, all with a long respawn timer. Each mob only drops 1 item, and it's not guaranteed. A full group needs 20 of the drops, which means around an hour spent in this tunnel, competing with other groups to tag the mobs. Not worth it at all, but I was in a group where they demanded we do it before the instance. Probably should have just found another group...

There's this horrible Elite Q at the start of STV where you have to kill elite murlocs for fins or whatever and they are all the way down at the bottom of the ocean and you pretty much have to beg a warlock to buff you or you will slowly go insane with their 3D kiting techniques

    Almost any escort quest.

Any (object)collect quest with a low respawn timer.
Any "kill dude X" quest where X has a 5min+ respawn timer.

The Necklace quest for Horde side in Uldaman.

    it goes like:
    Grab quest in Org
Get random drop neck in Ulda
    Go back to Org
Get back to Ulda and check the Paladin corpse
Talk to a guy in Kargath
Find four gems in Uldaman (luckily they're boss drop / located next to one)
    Get back to Org
Go back to Kargath to receive a final reward

Uldaman is objectively the worst designed Dungeon of classic, this questchain perfectly highlights why.

I think the worst part is how dumb this quest even is if you're doing LBRS with a group of friends, but aren't a full party.
You either agree on that one of your mates gets those gems and hopes you win vs. Randoms, or you just all roll in hopes that one guy wins them all.

I'd even argue that 15 runs are a generous assumption on average, those gems need to drop in the first place and then you have win all of them vs. 4 other people.
Been in LBRS like 3-4 times by now, saw like 6 gems in total by now, haven't won a single one.

Granted, not everybody needs one, but still a massive cockblocker if you want to open an UBRS party and have to ask whether someone has the key / ask for a key opener.

Haha horde complaining about a quest which gives one of the best quest rewards in the entire game. Talk about ungrateful.

Yeah, honorable mention for the "druid Cat form questline" on much the same grounds.

collecting X stuff from mobs. For some reason my Paladin always smashes ears, bear asses, eyes, heads or whatever to pieces so I cant loot it.

I have noticed something, its probably nothing but: When im questing with 1 person and we are both on collect X item quest and one of us finishes, the items the other person need suddenly drops rapidly from mobs. We can go on and on until one of us reaches 10, the other still need 5. Then those 5 items drops quickly.

Linken one I don't mind, that late 40 early 50 level range you're going between ungoro and felwood a bit anyway (probably easier for Ally since the northern felwood FP is slightly quicker to west winterspring if you have a sprint/dash similar.

I honestly hate the blasted lands quests, the drop rates for basilisk brains and a couple of the other parts is pretty annoying, the vultures seem to dodge a lot as melee, and if there's any competition in the area you're going to be waiting a long time on certain mobs. You also need to keep a mental calculation of the extra parts you need for the quests requiring the same parts. Mind you I'm also dual boxing, so have to do it all twice, had to keep a notepad open of the total parts I need for both characters (the only good part is the items can be traded).

Ah I am still working on this- so far it has been - Winterspring->Feralas->Winterspring->Tanaris->Ungoro->Felwood->Tanaris and I think I am going back to ungoro next. Lovin it. Can catch up on emails and shit.

For me some of the "worst" quest experience has been with dungeon quests- you like have to actually read them since often after finishing dungeon you will find you have done like 2/6 quests.
