Excellent point. "she's a mentally ill autistic girl" is a complete failure to understand what's wrong with her speeches. By far the worst thing is the pseudo-scientific predictions of doom and extinction. Whether such claims comes from a little girl who doesn't have a highschool diploma or from an adult with a PhD doesn't matter at all. The person and their qualification has no bearing on the validity of a claim to knowledge.

That being said, I'm sure she hasn't arrived in New York using a sailboat.
Yeah, fuck her for wanting to ensure the world she inherits has clean air, clean water, plenty of arable land for farming, without the chaos of mass migration or resource loss . . .

What if it's all a hoax and we created a better world for nothing?

You realize clean air, water, and agriculture aren't going away? If anything they're easier to manage than ever before thanks to modern technology.

Yeah, I'm not even sure what the hell the denialists conjure up as the boogey man here, Greta isn't exactly spreading anything but a call to action and for the people in power to take the future of coming generations seriously...

Climate change denialists will go down in history as the bad guys, whether we turn things around or not. Mark my words.

If you or a loved one wants a Hamster (any kind), consider going with a custom cage. Most of the retail cages, even the biggest, are simply too small for the hamster's well-being. There are far cheaper solutions using IKEA furniture, for example, that also results in a more stylish habitat that's bigger and easier to match with your decor! I use the IKEA Detolf + KALLAX solution! Check it out! Another clever and even cheaper solution is converting the IKEA SAMLA Bin!

Nah that's kind of like saying the heliocentrism deniers of the past will go down as the "bad guys" because it turns out the Earth orbits the sun. Overtime people gain more epistemic humility, which is to say that positions that may have been considered "wicked" in times past are caused by people's inability to model nature in an accurate way. Similarly the people in 2500 may think eating meat from a slaughtered animal is barbaric, but they won't necessarily think that 2019 meat eaters are "bad guys" because presumably they'll be able to understand historical context.

At the rate of Trump changing policies like raising emission standards on cars, removing regulations that stop coal companies from dumping in waterways, and removing regulations that ban certain pesticides that cause cancer, then yeah, they are going away. You would know this if you did even a TINY BIT of research instead of attacking a 16 year old girl that might be smarter than the people attacking her.

Do you have any proof that clean air, water, and agriculture is going away overall?

So, you think all of those that I listed, doesn't have any adverse effects? Or so, because they aren't all gone, means we are fine? This is your tipping point. Jesus I have seen ridiculous shit from you before, but this is probably the most ignorant statement I have seen from you in a while.

I'm saying if you believe that clean air, water, and food/agriculture is going away you have a responsibility to prove it. Referring to some magical tipping point that can't be scientifically verified or falsified has zero value.

Raising emission standards, and removing regulations are all I need.

Okay well if you're claiming that air, water, and agriculture are going away then *data* is what I need.

No, they're listening to her message.
Her message is what brought her fame in the first place.

But, "celebrity" is far more benign than the other BS reasons people have for NOT listening I suppose.

So, you don't know what happens when you dump more CO2 in the air, or when you dump coal slurry into the waterways, or when you use cancer causing chemicals on our crops? No wonder you are a Trump supporter.

Orbitus never has any proof. He spits his liberal talking points and then disappears.

You realize you could take all of the anthropogenic CO2 emissions throughout history and then double it again and the air would still be perfectly breathable. It's only when it is emmitted in a very densely populated area and gets stuck in a weather bubble that it causes a big problem, eventually they dissipate.

Coming from a liar like you? Highly doubtful.

Because, as she correctly states, that's not her fucking job. That's the job of governments. She's protesting government inaction at the problem.

Except governments aren't capable of preserving the ecological status quo, at least not if they want to remain relevant with the rest of the world that prioritizes growth over environmental pristine. Ultimately the growing societies set the tone for everybody else.

    1. It's not "environmental pristine", it's "preventing total ecological collapse".

    2. This is an argument for degrowth and the total decimation of capitalism.
