Corrupted gear is an awesome idea

In a-plenty of games, equipment with advantage and drawbacks is interesting. It spice up things a bit-would you like to have gear that is not ''BiS on IcyVeins'' but that require some independant deicision making ?

Here's the twist. BIS on IcyVeins is still BIS on IcyVeins. Corruption can be spread out across all any slots and perks you want. It's an extra thing on top of your BIS.

I personally like it. Flavorful and skill-testing, but if you don't want to deal with it you can get your gear cleansed and ignore the system entirely.

Nothing about it is strictly BIS because there's always a cost associated with how much corruption you stack.

I really don't think this can have a BIS list. If your raid can't handle the healing you'll want less corruption, if it can then you add more corruption. That's not really something you can put on a BIS list.

There is BIS though. Corruption doens't impact base stats so your BIS for stats is still your BIS for stats. Corruption is secondary, unlike Titanforging.

A dead raider does zero DPS. If you are dying early because you have too much corruption for your healers to handle then clearly it isn't BIS for you.

But that's irrelevant as far as BIS goes. BIS is about stats, not "are you dead."

Titanforging raises stat weights meaning your BIS had to be perfectly Titanforged. Corruption doesn't raise any stat weights on the item, thus a BIS is BIS whether it's corrupted or not.

People are literally going to choose not to equip whatever they find on the internet BIS lists sometimes because it could cause them to die. That means BIS lists are not going to be followed nearly as much as they currently are.

No, people are going to cleanse those items of corruption so they don't stack more corruption than they can handle.

A cleansed item isn't going to show up in an BIS list.

Ya, ironically just like Titanforging, but people never seemed to understand that for some reason.

Corruption likely isn't going to show up in BIS lists anyway since it's a +/- effect. "BIS" is as much corruption as you can handle.

Corrupted gear is not strictly better than uncorrupted gear. That's the point. It's a tradeoff you can choose to make.

In other words, what a lot of players are going to pay attention to is how much corruption they have rather than a BIS affix.

I'm not saying there isn't going to be BIS lists posted. I'm saying they aren't going to be as useful for individual players this time.

But then what's the point? Imagine Titanforging, except if you have more than let's say 5 gears that have titanforged you need to downgrade some of them. Does that really sound like a good idea? To force people to downgrade their gear cause they have too much good gear?

Just about time that the heroes realize that equipment we pick up won't always be good/safe.

Good players will be better, bad players will be worse Sounds interesting tho, hopefully it won't be another ring of RNG we have to topple "I need this peace, but with this affix specifically or I can't use it"

Hey at least, it's a take on corruption beyond ''purple tentacles like in certain late night animes''

It has the potential to be interesting

So many more pug runs gonna crash and burn since ppl are literally killing themself via corruptions, dying to mechanics cause they got slowed etc.
I hope this was a bandaid feature to be replaced with something more permanent and less shit for 9.0

Until we know exactly how gear cleansing works it's a bit early to say that BiS won't include corrupted gear.
