A banana duct taped to wall.... for $120,000.00

    As title suggests:

    https://edition.cnn.com/style/articl...ntl/index.html

Now there's crazy, "art crazy" and stupid levels of crazy... Surely the people (2 were sold apparently) buying them for 120k could have used the money in some better ways... it's a eff-ing banana taped to a wall.

Really boils my blood to see people do so much stupid with their money.

Because it's art. You can't just claim art is money laundering without proof. Where is your proof?

Willing to bet the purchasers were Russian or have Russian connections as well. Will proudly display it for the week until it rots in one of their many empty Floridian money laundering condos or mansions.

Oh, probably. But if you can't prove that it is other than just "look and smells like" then the FBI/similar won't do shit

    Look.

If you build a bonfire with your money and burn it, you do you boo. It's your money.

But can we fucking admit already that something has gotten completely out of hand with how capitalism works right now and just fucking have people who have so much money they could burn it on a bonfire and not give a fuck, pay their god damned taxes?

We can't have that money going to the poors and "the others". Those waste of space takers need to just pick themselves up by their boot straps and inherit their wealth and privilege like all the rest of us 1%. Am i right. /s

Talking meme words like privilege, correct your statement does not make

"A 2017 survey from Fidelity Investments found that 88 percent of millionaires are self-made. Only 12 percent inherited significant money (at least 10 percent of their wealth), and most did not grow up in exclusive country club neighborhoods. "

So yeah only 12% of millionaires inherited 10% or more of their money. (10% means inheriting 101 thousand or more and then becoming millionaires).

    sourse: https://money.usnews.com/money/blogs...t-millionaires

So basically... very very very few people inherited millions. So few that it makes no sense to even mention them in discussions
and the geek shall inherit the earth

That's kind of the point of laundering money, to make a hard to trace and appear legit.

I'm not sure that tops the "this is an actual can of crap, probably, you'll only know if you open it, which would ruin the art piece!" but it's definitely the #2 spot.

Not money laundering, but a way to transfer funds from one person to another for the purchase of something illegal.

Money laundering is hiding the source of an income, so you can get access to it seemingly legally. Like a charity that you run that deals in small denominations can launder drug money to which you gain most of the "donated" money back in a legal bank account.
This banana is likely the stand in for another purchase, so when the government comes knocking and says, hey this attack helicopter went missing, what was this 150k transfer from your accounts. You can sit back and point at the wall and say, "bitch, banana."

Something like this is more evidence why the wealthy should be taxed more.
