The irony of this post is huge, for someone defending She-Hulk on another thread. You should try comparing the two shows on those subjects, i'd be totally reading that from you. Way to go and shoot yourself in the foot.

Back on topic though, Andor is great. Fresh take on SW TV shows, being gritty and dark and having characters who are truly grey, without evil intentions, but totally able to cause harm and act in an evil way. Having the Bourne trilogy(or is it tetra-???) writer gives great promise, the man did great job there and seems to deliver the same here.

Last Jedi on the other hand in an effort to subvert expectations - takes both legacy and new characters in a direction that none of them earned so to speak. it undermines existing character development. when seen in a vacuum, its still not a good movie IMO, but its decent. when seen as part 2 to existing trilogy? eh...

things that I did like from it. Idea of Rey not being related to anyone significant and force sensitive individuals coming from everywhere and anywhere. it doesn't actualy contradict the existing lore, but expands it, opening up room for more varied stories. conformation of Leia's force sensitivity (though original story already heavily hinted at it). the idea (though not execution) behind General Holdo and Rose. Things I didn't like - characterization of most returning characters, pretty much all of them were done dirty in one way or another, often leading to head scratching actions just so they could move the plot along. Reylo (gag)
Agreed on most things you liked and also agreed on the sub-par execution of those. I mean, the space-race and casino plots were nonsense, story wise.

Putting the awkwardness of you stalking me like this aside, I never defended She-Hulk as an amazing piece of film. I said I LIKE it, but that doesn't mean I think it's objectively a brilliantly made product. I enjoy 3-star cuisine, too, but every now and then I'm totally fine with just going to Burger King. I like them most out of the common fast-food fare, but that doesn't mean I think they're anywhere close to comparable to a real restaurant, let alone a 3-star one.

casino plot was supposed to establish character development as well as built up the world that they are living it, the problem is, in order to facilitate some parts of aforementioned worldbuilding and plot, they had characters act like idiots... for instance leaving their giant unauthorized spaceship where it was DIRECTLY VISIBLE FROM THE BALCONY. what... in a hell, you guys? and that in a nutshell is my issue with a lot of what last jedi does. I like a LOT of the ideas from it, but their execution in a movie depends on characters bending to the plot not the other way around.

also, just so you know, I'm trying to explain my views because YOU agreeing with them means I didn't explain them well enough.

Elements of this make me wonder what a GOT level SW show full of political intrigue would be like had the Double Ds not gotten ahead of themselves.

Holy shit. Dialogue only episode but damn there's a lot of stuff going on for a SW show. It's going to leave a lot of people behind and pull a lot more in. Very interesting turn on the way they tell on screen dto. Lots of Easter eggs and world building for lore nerds.

Well, there was a KotOR reference in the Episode, so people are going to go crazy over what that means.

Any references to KotOR make people go nuts.

That looks to basically be what they trying to do with the non-Cassian plots in the show anyway.

Mon Mothma actor Genevieve O'Reilly talks that secret meeting with Stellan Skarsgård in Andor episode 4

    https://www.gamesradar.com/genevieve...e-4-star-wars/
By Molly Edwards - about 10 hours ago

In Andor episode 4, Mon and Luthen meet in the antiques gallery and conduct a covert meeting about their rebellious activities, all while Mon's driver is distracted just metres away. Out in public, they're all smiles, but in the backroom, things get very serious. Total Film sat down with Mon Mothma actor Genevieve O'Reilly and discussed that hidden conversation.

"What's so wonderful about that scene is that it exposes the very different faces of both characters, the public face and the private face," O'Reilly shares. "What was wonderful was to play within that environment. The set that Luke [Hull], our designer, created – which is just stunning – also mirrored that public space and private space. So Stellan and I just had a joy playing that scene, wrestling the public, the private.

"And then within that, of course, is what we will reveal to each other. If we reveal, or what we reveal, not only within the public sphere, where there are other people listening, but even when we're together. What will we give away about each other? So there are layers to secrecy. There are layers to what you divulge. And there are layers to what you protect."

Why couldn't they give Obi-Wan Kenobi to a writer and a director on the range of Kilroys? I understand Disney wants to push for more content, but still, there are shows like Boba Fett (which could have been the Godfather or Scarface in Tatooine, but ended up being Mandalorian season 2.5) and She-Hulk, and then there are shows like Andor. Great cast, awsome filming, realistic and dark story on the start of the rebellion (or terrorism, depending on the side you're looking into this). There were incompetent goons for villains and then there are the fearsome Empire officers with perspective, authority and their own agendas.

They are taking Star Wars to the next level with this, far from the silliness of the Sequel Trilogy (and generally the past).

Hate to break it to you, but this kind of storytelling won't be the norm.

I feel Kenobi would have required even better writers than the Gilroys..we expected a deep dive in the Jedi religion how he goes forward with it in the tattoine wasteland, his inner thoughts, his meditations...
I was never interested in tattoine kenobi, cuz I felt they would fuck it up even if they did get good writers.. and if they did get amazing writers the story would for normies feel even more 'boring' than andor for many..

I would have preferred clone wars kenobi, would have been easier to please the fans that way

I am talking about the quality. And i understand it won't be the norm. With all these series they putting out, most will probably mediocre to bad.

But some could wish better things, can't they?

Kenobi on Tatooine had to overcome the trauma of the Jedi extinguished, his former padawan and friend lost to the Dark Side. The material was there, but was mostly dealt superficially, showing him being severed from the Force. And then getting it back as a Deus per machina, when needed.

Yeah, i could go on, but it would be off-topic, so there's that.

Pretty decent showing so far but any action sequence with Andor is basically 0 since we already knows his fate.

Wow, Episode 4 was super boring again. It looks good, don't get me wrong, but I almost felt asleep last night while trying to watch it. Really no clue how you can think this is better than Kenobi??

It's more sophisticated than Kenobi, and better crafted. But it does run into some pacing issues. I have a feeling that it's 12 episodes because it's a story that should have been told in 6 episodes, and that's not a good move. I love great cinematography as much as the next guy, but it... drags on at time.

Though at other times, it also fits everything quite well. Mr. Babyface Officer Guy going home to his mother? That was some primo film stuff. Very well executed.

Yeah honestly, it feels like it has all the issues as the Marvel Netflix stuff had but even worse. Like, literally nothing happened during episode 4.

I'm looking forward to seeing the seeds of the Rebellion though, lets hope we get atleast a few cool easter-eggs and cameos down the line atleast, which may save the show for me. Usually, I love re-watching stuff multiple times but so far I can't even muster the energy to re-watch the first episodes with my girlfriend again, which is kinda sad.

I had hopes that Mon Mothma would bring something interesting to the show but even her scenes were ..... so .... slow and boring.

I'm sincerely baffled by your claim "nothing happened". Andor is given his first trial mission. We learn about Luthien, We meet Mon Mothma and learn about her family and professional surroundings. And for the love of GOD, we get introduced to the imperial villains.

What did you expect? watching the heist?

Andor and Luthien fly to a planet and Andor mets a bunch of unlikable people who give him food and a snorefeast mission overview. We don't even see Mon Mothma in the Senat, just her shopping and having that weird fight with her husband (?). Even the security office was just boring talk without any action. Like, common. The highlight of this episode was a kyber crystal and two tie fighter who fly by. Oh, and the mention of Saw Gerrera ....

Like, imagine if the mentioning of some rebel fighter is the most exciting part of an episode?

I really try to like the show, it's just ... boring so far. Beautifully shot yes, but boring. Kenobi, Mando Season 2 and Boba Fett were a lot more fun all around than whatever Andor is supposed to be :/
