Its not quite that clear cut. These are the numbers from CA - Asian Americans at 85% immunized, Whites 62%, Blacks 43% and Latinos 44%.

I think that Asians as a whole are more amenable to the idea of vaccination when compared to the other ethnicities. We have only seen the good side of vaccination. We had never been the subject of experiments like Blacks in the US.

I received all of my vaccinations (polio, chicken pox, tetanus, etc.) at school. The only exception was for health reason and you needed a doctor's letter for that. It was simply put a fact of life. I don't remember any anti-vaccine protesters either. If they did exist, the secret police probably would have grabbed them in the middle of the night, locked them in a dark cell and threw the key away.

I was given Moderna too, and I had no reaction to the first shot while I had a light fever after the second. Other people I know in real life who have also had Moderna reacted to the first shot much more than the second, and they also have never had covid.
I mean.. I have other reasons to suspect that both SO and I had it, despite negative on a test, but who knows.

and huh, in our parts, our mask mandate is over after june 28. for now, people are still masking. in theory (and i guess practice) we don't have to anymore, but both SO and I have been wearing them anyways when getting groceries as per individual store requests. I'm not going to argue with cashiers over my vaccination status, they have plenty to deal with already. but it would be nice when its official for all. TBH. as strange as it may sound to people, i really REALLY miss wearing makeup...

The chief executive here for the whole thing mentioned that it is possible that masks directive will return in the winter and he confirmed we will be having additional wave of boosters in the winter.

All my ignores are permanently filtered out and invisible to me. Responding to my posts with nonsense or insults is pointless, you're likely already invisible and if not - 3 clicks away. One ignore is much better than 3 pages of trolling.

Honestly, i am going to be selfish on this as i suffer from lung ailments since birth but masks during winter and thus flu season would be greatly appreciated, i did not come with anything the last supposed flu seasons and rather not go back to how it used to be.

Sadly this is not an USA only thing and this quote stood out to me

But experts worry that unvaccinated people are falling into a false sense of security as more transmissible variants can rapidly spread in areas with a high concentration of unvaccinated people who have abandoned masking and social distancing.
There is this believe from people who refuse to get vaccinated that they will be safe due to others being vaccinated, whilst the jury is still out if you cannot spread it to others while vaccinated or that they know relatives have gotten it or they themselves have gotten it that they are safe for future more dangerous strains.

I do not wish harm on these people as i know some of them rather well but it is quite telling that it is often arrogance that no harm can come to them and i fear it will come back to bite them in the ass next round. Most likely at another freedom or anti-mask rally during the fall..
“My philosophy is: It’s none of my business what people say of me and think of me. I am what I am and I do what I do. I expect nothing and accept everything. And it makes life so much easier.

Makes sense, until we have more data how the virus behaves in a vaccinated population during peak time, caution is still advised.

That is for the US, and even though a similar trend can be seen elsewhere there are some outliers.

The uk has seen the number of infections rise from low numbers during the last month, despite a large scale vaccination (especially the first dose).
Chile has seen the number of infections rise to high numbers this year, despite even higher rate of vaccination.
(There are some countries that are reporting declining numbers despite slow vaccination, e.g. India and Japan, but it is unclear if that is due to mandated lockdowns, people just staying home, or that a large part of the population has already been infected.)

The difference is that Chile relied one of the not so good Chinese vaccines, and the uk primarily relied on just one vaccine-dose, and opened more and earlier than many other European countries.

The US avoided those pitfalls, as they relied on better vaccines, and I would guess that the states that have high vaccination rates also take the pandemic seriously and if anything are slower to open up than the states with slow vaccination.

Update: It seems that "Our World In Data" reacted to this and added some additional data for China around June 10th, and updated the world numbers with China at the same time.

Moscow's Mayor Sobjanin said today that everyone in the service industry (read, banks, shops, mail, restaurants, etc.) will have to receive mandatory vaccines.
I wonder if that will actually go through, but they dearly need it. Only 1.8 million out of 12 in Moscow are vaccinated (and it is more than elsewhere in the country, IIRC).

China's COVID-19 vaccines are being called into question after infections surged in countries using Chinese shots

By March, the Seychelles was one of the world's most vaccinated countries. With over half of its population fully inoculated from COVID-19, the island nation off Africa was outpacing even Israel.

This speedy rollout was largely thanks to China — imports of its Sinopharm shot made up 57% of all doses delivered there.

So when the Seychelles saw a sharp rise in virus cases in mid-May, despite some 60% of the population being fully vaccinated, that came as a surprise.

Later the surprise deepened as health officials confirmed, on May 10, that more than one third of Seychelles residents to fall sick had indeed already taken their vaccines.

In an interview with state-owned Chinese National Business Daily published on June 7, Shao Yiming, Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention expert, said the Chinese vaccines available in China are designed to prevent severe illness, not all infections.

Outbreaks of the Delta variant of the coronavirus may also complicate the situation in China. Studies from the UK suggest this variant is more likely to be able to escape even the Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines.

In May, Yiming, China's CDC researcher, said that the vaccines can provide protection against the variants first found in India "to a certain extent", although he did not say which vaccines, and did not release data to support this statement.

And the death cult continues. While public universities in AZ may have wanted to stay cautious as folks still aren't vaccinated and the Delta variant is a big concern, and had rolled out plans for student testing/vaccination/vaccine requirements to ensure that they could safely re-open campuses, the death cult decided that just wasn't acceptable.

Public universities cannot mandate testing for unvaccinated students, cannot require a vaccine before a student's return, and cannot enforce mask mandates.

"The vaccine works, and we encourage Arizonans to take it. But it is a choice and we need to keep it that way," Ducey said in a statement. "Public education is a public right, and taxpayers are paying for it. We need to make our public universities available for students to return to learning. They have already missed out on too much learning."
I hope AZ schools don't see a spike in cases, especially of the Delta variant, due to the death cult in the US.

meanwhile i'm sitting here and its been only 2 decades since I myself went to college... and they wouldn't let me register for classes or anything until I have shown proof of vaccinations. (the standard mmr, etc we had back then). and that was btw for both private UNI and a city school.

Umm...got a bit of a headachey feel roughly 6hrs ago...a touch groggy. Classic signs of the flu. Normally I'd go out for a hot sweaty jog and I'd feel relatively better. But since this about teaching my body's immune system I endured. Although I definitely would have been sticky after a jog in the heat.

As for superpowers...welp...not Magneto. More like Cannonball. After that first shot I got such a case of flatulence and diarrhea. Omg..if it weren't for the ceiling I'd be posting from near-earth orbit. It was simply awful.

...that was probably a bit much.
