Pretty sure it was Fauci that said a 3rd shot will just increase the quantity of antibodies, not the quality of them. A person with 2 shots who then gets sick will increase their immune efficacy.

Probably should go without saying, but purposefully going out and getting sick on purpose post vaccine is a terrible idea and wasn't what he was suggesting.
There is a lawsuit going on in Florida, dunno if it would work in Texas. But Florida has a safety clause in their constitution for schools. And there are parents suing to overturn DeathSantis's mask ban executive order. https://www.clickorlando.com/news/lo...over-mask-ban/

We should have a better numbers soon. My wife signed up for a study on Covid breakthrough case subjects at UCSF hospital. They are supposed to take her blood and spinal fluid samples tomorrow. She get $250 for that.

Rand Paul continues being one of the biggest pieces of shit in Congress and damn does he have stiff competition in that department.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) issued a rather bizarre video message on Sunday, coming down hard on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), mask mandates, and pandemic protocols affecting the in-person school year.

"It's time for us to resist. They can't arrest all of us," says Paul, thinking like a high school freshman attempting to convince his peers to skip class. "They can't keep all of your kids home from school. They can't keep every government building closed."

And despite his position in the Senate, where masks remained voluntary as of July 28 per guidance from Congress' attending physician, Paul goes on to decry "petty tyrant" Pelosi and her "drunk-with-power reign over the Capitol." He tells the speaker that he and his staff will make their own health choices, and will not comply with vaccine passports, mask mandates, or random COVID screening and testing.

Afterward, Paul notifies President Biden that "we will not accept [the CDC's] mandates," and baselessly calls the agency's mask guidelines "anti-science." He also threatens to delay or block the lawmaking process should the in-person school year or federal agency reopening be halted.

"We are at a moment of truth and a crossroads," Paul concludes. "Will we allow these people to use fear and propaganda to do further harm to our society, economy, and children? Or will we stand together and say, absolutely not. Not this time. I choose freedom."

The guy already personally infected other congressmen and staff in the capitol when he refused to quarantine and just went on his life while sick with Covid. This is why I freaking hate Libertarian ideologies because they don't care if the rest of the world burns just as long as they are comfortable and happy.

Over the weekend Florida shattered all previous Covid records

The CDC halved the weekend data sent by the state of Florida, 56,633 new cases, and put 28,316 new cases Saturday and 28,317 new cases Sunday. Either number blasts the state past the previous high of 23,903 established on Friday by 18.5%.

Along with that infection record, the state set another record, 13,977 current hospitalizations, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

In total, the CDC reported 239 COVID deaths for Florida on Saturday and Sunday.

High vaccination rate even protect children,

COVID-19 Cases Among San Diego Children Remain Low, Unlike Other U.S. Cities

Last week, eight young patients were admitted to Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego, but the Medical Director of Infectious Disease at the hospital said local COVID-19 rates among children are low and not cause for alarm.

Among the eight admitted to Rady Children’s last week, none developed serious symptoms and left the hospital within a day. One of the patients was 2 years old, but most were over 12. The hospital accepts patients up to 20 years old.

Unlike other parts of the country where COVID-19 cases in children are escalating, Dr. Bradley attributes the low rates in San Diego to the high number of adults who’ve been vaccinated.

To date, 72% of eligible San Diegans are now fully vaccinated.

“If there's widespread COVID in the adult community, we will be seeing it in children as we are now. So if we get more of the adults vaccinated, then they'll be less of a source of COVID to infect children,” Bradley said.

FUCK DeathSantis and FUCK GQP for doing this to us. If their stupidity and reckless behavior would only mean their deaths then I would tell them to go nuts but sadly their death cult allows the pandemic to rage on. This will lead to more mutations making an even stronger form of the virus.

A bunch of tidbits. None good.

Hunt Regional Medical Center at Commerce, TX said its ER is temporarily closing "due to a critical Covid surge." Those suffering a medical emergency should "proceed to the nearest emergency room in Greenville or Quinlan," the hospital said.

Texas Health Hospital in Rockwall said in its temporary ER closure would allow medical staff to transfer to the hospital's main campus, where they "will provide care related to the pandemic," according to the hospital's website.

In Florida, the hospitalization rate is more than triple the national rate. There are more than 65 people hospitalized with Covid-19 for every 100,000 people in Florida, about one out of every 1,500 state residents.

In Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi, hospitalization rates are more than double the national number.

Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson said Monday that hospitalizations for Covid-19 are at an all-time high and there are only eight available intensive care unit beds in the state.

I can't stress it enough. Vaccine works GREAT.

Sanborn is an infectious disease physician at Palm Beach Children’s Hospital.

He said they are busier now with COVID-19 cases than at any time during the pandemic.

"A lot of kids are showing up to the emergency department with COVID infections," Sanborn said. "And we are seeing a higher proportion of those kids having to be admitted to the hospital with acute COVID infections."

And it's not just older children.

Sanborn said he even sees infants who have the virus.

One thing he said he has not seen, however, is a serious case of COVID-19 in a child who has been vaccinated.

"We have not seen vaccinated children hospitalized yet," he said. "Hopefully, it stays that way."

Sanborn said he believes the best thing a parent can do for their children is get them vaccinated.

And if the children are under 12 years old and not eligible for the vaccine, he said the best advice is for everyone around the child to get vaccinated.

Why is it so hard to get this simple fact through people's skulls. It is so frustrating.

The GQP at the beginning of the lockdowns went full Lord Farquaad to all Health Care workers, plus basically everyone else, and told them "Some of you may die, but it is a sacrifice I am willing to make."

There's a huge shortage, people are reporting offers 3 or 4 times their current salaries to move to different hospitals.

They are all exhausted after a year of this BS.

Just imagine what it is going to be like in another years time, 'cause at the rate it is going it won't be done by then.

Well, if the new Lambda strain is immune to all the vaccines, its going to be another long year. It is absolutely BS. We could have been done with this if people just locked down for a few months and rode it out. Im talking strict enforcement's that lasted for weeks After the new cases dropped to near 0. At this rate, the damage done is going to far exceed our ability to fix it.

We are going to lose more and more hospital staff at this rate. Who knows whats going to happen if this suddenly becomes more deadly.

    Google translated
    Delta variant

First detected in India, this is considered a “concern variant” by the World Health Organization (WHO) as it has been shown to increase transmissibility, cause more serious illness and reduce the benefit of vaccines and treatments.

Its high transmissibility – considered Delta's “superpower” by Shane Crotty, a virologist at the La Jolla Institute of Immunology, in San Diego (USA) – gives the immune system less time to respond and mount a defense. Whereas in the original mutation, the coronavirus takes seven days to cause symptoms, in the Delta strain it is two or three days faster.

In addition, this variant also seems to be undergoing a greater mutation, with the emergence of reports of a “Delta Plus” variant, detected, according to Outbreak.info – Covid-19 open source database -, in at least minus 32 countries. It is still unclear whether it is more dangerous, hence it is not yet considered a variant of concern by the WHO.

    Lambda variant

This strain, first identified in December in Peru, is now classified as a “variant of interest” by the WHO, meaning it may cause a change in transmissibility or a more serious disease, but is still under investigation.

Lambda has shown a decline in transmissibility, with the percentage of new cases decreasing, according to GISAID – database that tracks the SARS-CoV-2 variants. In addition, William Schaffner, a specialist in infectious diseases, says that vaccines are well resisting this variant, although carrying mutations that can be resistant.

According to the INSA report, no new cases of this variant were detected, with a strong circulation in the regions of Peru and Chile.

    B.1.621

Considered “variant of interest” by the European Center for Disease Control and Prevention, B.1.621 first appeared in Colombia in January and carries several key mutations, including E484K, N501Y and D614G, linked to increased transmissibility and the reduction of immune protection.

It also has a low frequency in Portugal, with a detection rate below 0.8% since week 25 (21st to 27th June), according to the INSA.

    It's not assumption, it's observation.

    EDIT:
    Yeah, literally from your quote:
Lambda has shown a decline in transmissibility, with the percentage of new cases decreasing (Lambda is on the decline, being pushed out by the more transmissible delta), according to GISAID – database that tracks the SARS-CoV-2 variants. In addition, William Schaffner, a specialist in infectious diseases, says that vaccines are well resisting this variant, although carrying mutations that can be resistant (vaccines continue to work well against lambda, even though lambda's mutations are designed to make it more resistant to the immune system).

Yes, we absolutely, unequivocally, 100% know for a fact that lambda is not "immune to all vaccines". It only took the vaccines working against lambda one time to answer that question definitively.

And lambda is a non-issue right now because it's quantifiably continuing to lose ground to delta. Like I said in another thread:
Quote Originally Posted by PhaelixWW View Post

It's been around for the same amount of time as delta (since December 2020), and yet its share of the current sampling in the US is only 0.2%, whereas delta is over 90%. Clearly, delta is the most aggressively propagating variant and is pushing the rest out. This is why delta is listed as a variant of concern (VoC) and lambda is only a variant of interest (VoI).

Man can you imagine? Schools force weird and strict dress codes for their students, but then claim that it would be infringing on the student's rights to require them to wear masks. I guess demanding a dress code or uniform is just fine for infringing on student's freedoms, but masks? NO CAN DO, THAT'S A LIBERAL CONSPIRACY TO STEAL OUR FREEDUMBS!

According to my states dashboard, we got mostly vast majority as Alpha here, and a bit of Gamma, not much Delta, almost no Beta, Epsilon was VOC but that just idk disappeared or something like 2 weeks ago. But Covid is mostly amongst the corn right now, and Lambda can stay with the nerds.

Edit- keep in mind there is even a higher step then voc and none of them are there yet.

Your link appears to be down atm, but according to a cached page from a few days ago, it looks like delta got a late start and is now growing rapidly. No other variants are growing, except for a tiny growth in alpha, though we have ample proof that delta will start pushing out the alpha before too long.

The CDC's variant data shows that delta has a 92.6% majority in Region #5 (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Wisconsin), so I doubt Illinois will be very far behind the rest.

Yeah delta definitely picking up steam, but as I said covid is amongst the corn here, meaning most cases are sparsely populated farmland downstate. Hope it stays down there cause I read that a couple epidemiologists saying delta variant maybe the most contagious virus ever, which is pretty fucking terrifying
