Why do they abandon the game for many months before each new expansion?

There are many things wrong with BfA, so they can't possibly fix them all. I understand that. And they should dedicate a lot of their resources to Shadowlands.

But how do they get away with basically abandoning SUBSCRIPTION-based game for many months before releasing an expansion? So the deal is, you keep paying us money and we'll just do nothing for the product that you're CURRENTLY paying for. If you'r charging for the expansion cost and a subscription, then you should deliver appropriate content and fixes for it for the full duration of the expansion.

There are many things they could do that wouldn't even take that much effort. Make essences account-wide, make corruption offer more options from your weekly mythic+ chest so you can choose the best option. Blizzard themselves said they're doing this in Shadowlands. But they decided that no, we're going to leave it as it is in BfA, cause the quality of life for people playing now doesn't matter (but please don't unsubscribe though).

you make pointless whine thread every day... just unsub and be done with it...
btw, in which expansion there wasnt a content drought at the end? its not like they can pull content out of their ass, they have to make it, which would mean less people working on next expansion, which wouldnt delete content drough, just postpone it...

btw, a lot of people ALWAYS unsub for the content drought at the end of expansion, always had and always will, nobody expect all players to remain subed untill shadowlands...

Alright, this is going to be a long and maybe slightly confusing explanation, so try to read it slowly, word by word if that helps.

You are not paying for content. You pay for access to content.

Yes, we pay for the expansion, and yes, we do get more content during the lifetime of an expansion than what "comes in the box". That is an expectation and they fulfill that part, even if we do not like said content. They are not required, by law, to give us more, but they do.
No, we do not pay subscription so they can make more content for us. We pay for access to what is already there.

Unsub when there is no content for you then. Why is this so hard for people? If you don't think the sub is worth it for the content that's left you can click that unsubscription button.

well he would have to use brain for that, and judging by his posts he doesnt have any...

One answer is: Because making the foundation of an expansion requires more work than a content patch.
Another is: Because people are hopelessly addicted and still give them money despite getting a substandard service.
Yet another is: Because Blizz is shit at managing their resources, despite having streamlined the everliving hell out of the game and doubled the dev team compared to previous iterations.
You are welcome, Metzen. I hope you won't fuck up my underground expansion idea.

In regards to account wide essences: This is a design choice, nothing that needs to be fixed. You might not agree with it (many people don't), but it is supposed to work this way and it honestly is not THAT bad if you think about it. You can work on each essence you want, you have a clear path to get them and there is no randomness involved. Yeah, I agree it could be speed up somehow (the timegates ones are the biggest offenders to be honest, the others are actually fine IMO)

The corruption system however is utterly broken in every possible way and I have no idea how they think its fine to just roll with it and don't bother anymore.

    because they can

    because we enable them to

    that's why

What are you even talking about OP?

So far this month alone there has been 10 bug fixing patches, but sure, you go on believing the game is unsupported.
Here is something to believe in!

The awesome thing about the triple revenue model of WoW (box price, monthly sub, shop) is that you can tailor your costs according to your personal needs.

One way to look at it is that the cost of an expansion is the box cost + 24 odd months of subscription. You have the option of paying less by unsubscibing for part of that period if you feel that there is insufficient content to keep you busy for the full length of the expansion.

    Easy as pie

Jaylock? Did you finally cave and make a new account to keep whining about your self inflicted stupidity?
Never believe you have seen the peak of human stupidity and ignorance, or you will constantly be surprised by the new levels the reach almost every day

What do you mean abandon? We just had a new patch release and the new content is still fresh. Just because things that you'd like to be added haven't been added doesn't mean that the game was abandoned.

I agree but maybe you'd be better with a blog? 21 posts since the start of the year all basically on blizzard been shit (not that I disagree). 3 in the last 24 hours, gets a bit spammy

  14. #14
Because they decided to focus more on shadowlands probably. And actually, there's reasoning in those people's words, stop making hating threads all the time.

Let's go ahead and say that Blizzard says, hey, fuck it. And goes hard on BfA. They make the game PERFECT. EXACTLY the way you want it. You have ZERO complaints.

Then SL comes out as a half-completed fucking abortion of an expansion, barely tested, barely QA'd and a complete and total fucking train wreck.

24 hours later, you create the following thread:

"Why do they abandon new expansions right before they're released?"

    An angel weeps.

Please no. They must make characters completely separate any remove all "account-wide" features, rather than introducing new ones. Alts should not be a thing, people should play one character. Corruption options would make it boring, you just choose best one and everyone's the same. Now it's much more exciting. I got stars 3 weapon and it was awesome!

They are doing fine. Don't complain, please.

Looking at his post history he does seem to be very unhappy. I can't imagine keeping to play a game you dislike that much. It's like staying in an abusive relationship.

Dude you are a good troll fooling mmoc geniuses every day.
Don't reply or only to keep the fire going, have to give you that.

Blizzard is a small indie company that simply doesn't have the resources to support developing a new expansion and the live game.

Because every mmo the size of Warcraft requires two teams. One team to take care of the current expansion, addressing issues, making new content, balancing etc, and another team developing the next expansion. After Activision sent most of Blizzard staff to the smartphone division they barely have enough people for a single team. And the ones left are apparently not the best. It's obvious they will never make WoW the great mmo it used to be. They will just milk the last drop of nostalgia and hope from dedicated fans, and then turn it free to play with little to zero new content. It's over.
