That's a big problem with legion class orders in general. It homogenized a lot of the classes from a cultural standpoint, and mashed together class variations that should be pretty different. Elune is technically a being of the light, yes, but it's a separate faith entirely, and their magic is pretty much the exact same as the star/moon-based spells that druids have. On a side-note, I'm pretty sure troll priests were always supposed to be witch-doctors or the like.

That's not how it went down at all. Tauren priests and paladins came about along with the Sunwalker Tribe- a tribe founded shortly after wrath following a theological discussion about the imbalance in worship of the sun and moon. The gist of it is that the Tauren decided the influence of the night elves has caused worship to lean far too heavily in favour of the moon, and thus they formed their own group to dedicate their worship to the sun in order to create balance. Tauren priests (seers) and paladins (sunwalkers) are really just sun-worshippers, not worshippers of the light- though yes, their power is technically the exact same thing (though it wouldn't surprise me if the way in which they worship it changes the way it manifests. The sun being a giant ball of fire and all.)
Why do I even bother to post on this damned site?

NE Paladins should be a thing and they should come with silver coloured Light vfx.

Considering the NPC in question ends up becoming a Paladin, and has an ancestor which becomes a follower who is also a Paladin, there's no excuse at this point for there not to be Night Elf Paladins.
"May the way of the Hero lead to the Triforce"

"May the Goddess smile upon you."

"Hero", is what they've all been saying. This world, it isn't worth the saving."

I was always thinking that NE priests are using "light of Elune".
Didn't they give gnomes hunters in one expansion?

Priestesses of the Moon, and indeed the night elves as a whole, highly favor ranged combat over melee, both physical and magical. Delas's initial goal with joining the Silver Hand was to take the Priestess of the Moon teachings, and Silver Hand paladin training, and marry them together in order to make the Sisters of Elune more capable combatants. As she learned about the Silver Hand's teachings, and met the spirit of her ancestor (an early night elf convert to the Holy Light), she began to reconsider her faith and, while still believing in Elune, embraced the Holy Light and, if memory serves, currently believes Elune functions as an aspect of the Light rather than her own unique power source.

edit: Which is to say, I'm 99% sure Delas Moonfang's presence in the Silver Hand order hall and that of her ancestor is to provide the groundwork for night elf paladins as her teachings begin to spread, especially after the Burning of Teldrassil where so many night elves are suffering crises of faith and are currently refugees in Stormwind, where the Holy Light is the resident faith.

So Blizzard is gonna have Night Elves give up their own religion and turn to the faith of the humans. Great, just great.

Also, Priestesses of the moon have been known to engage in melee combat. During the War of the Ancients, members of the Sisterhood of Elune used both bows and swords, and Tyrande has a fancy new weapon ever since her model update.

Have been known to, but they don't specialize like paladins do. And not all of them would convert, but just like with the Shen'dralar teaching new mages, Delas could fulfill her original goal of Elunite teachings and paladin martial training.

Yes, think it was WoD? They're reasoning is every race going forward will have Warrior/Hunter as an option as these are necessary "professions" for every society.

Just look at all races now, all can be Warriors & Hunters since Gnomes got it.
