I think people forget these things happened when "ANOTHER TURTLE MADE IT TO THE WATER!" is what sticks and Mechagnomes and Vulpera become playable. Though it's hard to forget stuff like the story around the death of Admiral Taylor and children being bound in an Ur'zul .

Elune: "My sister needed Anima so I let my favoured people die. What is this 'Maw' you speak of?"
Daily reminder that Steam has never had a monopoly on PC Gaming, don't mistake age and popularity for domination.

The game already is kind of dark, they just tone it down because the general audience doesn't want murder death murder rape murder death every 5 seconds like Warhammer. Many of the lore implications the game gives over the years is kind of fucked up, or melancholy as hell. That said, the main story is very saturday morning cartoon so that does down-play a lot of the tones the game gives for people.

I believe it's in the Title, SHADOWlands

There's your dark shit right off the bat.

To be fair, the Shaohao story was cool - Everything else Pandaren was teletubby shit though, true.

Low fiber and water consumption nets you some really dark shit.
    Chicken fried rice is delicious!

Wow is marketed as 12+ or something like that.

Even really basic war/barbaric/violence concepts such as rape are never even mentioned, while we can all be sure it happens every day (especially since females of most races look very similar in body structure).

Since blizzard is unwilling to put even the most common aspects of violence and war into WoW i doubt they will do anything more complex.

there is a fine line between "dark shit" and "silly edgyness"

and is a also a child's game, there will not be much dark heavy things for obvious reasons

There is also no necessity for doing it, i hate when stories/books/movies have to resort on that to get audience or visibility

Half of the zones are more light based than shadowy

You won't. Blizzard is trying very hard to be the Disney of the videogame industry.

They're failing fucking hard, but they're giving it their all.

I dunno, seeing a boy calling out for his mother while standing next to her impaled corpse seem pretty fucking dark to me.

And anyway regardless of our choice, the warlock guild then comes for the mom to get their book back and to kill her for her betrayal, and we have to decide whether to let the mom die or to kill the warlocks and protect her.

I would trade 50 "go collect some dumb shit" quest for one well written quest like that that just rewards the same amount of XP.
i would trade 50 dumb shit quest against 1 another cheap shit quest.

has nothing to do with this thread, but i am just sick of a trizillion warcampaign-like quests doing on 3-4 alts. so i would also trade 50 cheap shit quests against 1 cheap shit quest.

background: i simply dont need „content“ (when you even will call some cheap shit tasks, with some cheap shit story text lines in a quest ui, „content“) on one character. my content is raids and dungeons. on 3-4 different classes. why ? because i find it more interessting to play another class than another 50 quickly done cheap shit quests on one and the same class. i piss on that great form of „content“.

but i can understand why blizz loves it. its cheap. and scalable. and dont need gfx and designers.

so, in some way i have the same oppinion as you: playing wow with 50 quests well done instead 500 cheap shit quests, would make the game for me better like... factor 10. for many different reasons.

people forget there is a boss in waycrest manor that is literally men, women and childrens soul sewed together inside an effigy and they beg for release of their patched up souls as we kill the boss.
or going back, in naxx the sound and painful cries of people and that one boss who is again, men women and childrens body parts attached to eachother.
or scourge, some dark shit happens all around northrend, and people like OP dont know that because they dont know how to read, but somehow only know how to write.

Because Vulpera are all sunshine and rainbows, what with their being enslaved by a race that eats them. Or Mechagnomes, who just had to fight a civil war to stop their leader from destroying the world.

Or, you know, baby turtles requiring your help just to walk some 3 meters over a beach without getting killed.

Don't forget the mother who her daughter's husband-to-be assassinated on their wedding day simply because she didn't approve of her choice and later killed and raised her own husband.

Even in The Witcher series, not everything is doom and gloom.
