In the same speech he also called the election rigged, a fraud, then proceeded to explain how he was going to try and rig the election.

We're a little bass ackwards like that.

The history lesson on why is a little long, but it stems from the post-Am Revolution where a group of Founders wanted to keep some slivers of the nobility they had under Britain, and the EC was the compromise they came up with.

It's looking increasingly like it may be pretty much over except the shouting, map currently looks like this at a minimum

Because the republicans retain a roughly 50% share of political power and know it’s their only path to reelection, so they won’t let it change.

Because we have a political party that doesn't have the majority of voters because they can't run on policy and only deception.

They have taken over all the smooth brains of the country.

Lucky for them it just so happens that smooth brains are blindly loyal and literally live for Jesus, guns, and voting.

I have a feeling its only kept in place becease it favours the Gop by a ton and the media can hold longer specials and make money of it.

I mean, yeah nowadays it is, but it's super interesting that you can actually trace the roots of the GOP all the way back to Crown Loyalists in the AmRev that essentially ended up pouting their way into accepting the U.S. was it's own country. I wish I could find the documentary on it I watch a few years back.

Why is everyone so sure that Biden will win Nevada, btw? Only 'blue' counties left? The margin is extremely slim there.

You know what would be funny? Is if this is the exact election result, Trump called this a landslide in 2016, because it was the same number I believe. Can Democrats also claim a landslide still then?

    Likely.

Now most want a win. Just win. Also our winner-take-all electoral map looks worse than what it is. But still!!!! I want a while but will be so disheartened looking back if this is how it ends.

No, If Biden wins the exact same number of EC votes as Trump did in 2016, he 100% won't claim it to be a landslide, because it's not. Biden isn't a bloviating tool.

"To close to call" is media speak, not anything official in the election process. North Carolina will count every single vote, and then their Secretary of State will certify whatever number they come up with. Whoever has more votes wins.

Two things complicate that, one is recounts (Where they just count all the votes again), and the other is legal challenges to a certain subset of ballots. Both are almost guaranteed in most or all of these states. Wisconsin is well within the limits of a recount if either side requests it (They will), and both sides have teams of lawyers working to identify any ballot groups that they can legally challenge.
