I'm a social democrat, and I'd HATE an AOC presidency. She's right about some things, but is also kind of a moron.

I think Trump is going to have his own issues to deal with, mainly tax evasion, and dealing with a crumbling business empire.

Besides, he'll be four years older... and he already looks like he's wearing down.

Cos really, whilst abortion/guns/gay marriage/religion and that entire culture war hoopla is a hot button issue, nothing will move.
Culture War is just a idiom for excusing racism and sexism. So AOC faces an uphill battle, especially on a national scale. Also, Leftists still haven't proven they can win outside of very safe Dem districts.

Consider Kara Eastman, who ran as a Berniecrat to flip NEB-02.
Biden will beat Trump for NEB-02's electoral college vote, but Kara Eastman lost to GOP Rep. Don Bacon in the district.

People being mad at the Democrat Brand are really exaggerated in online spaces. It's just rank projection to cover up the fact that Socialism as a Brand is more unpopular than Atheism in the US.

Joking aside, I agree with those who think that AOC isn't really viable. She fits the "young fresh face" thing that people have been suggesting...but that's about it. Maybe in a decade or two she'll be president material, but definitely not now.

The real story of the night is that Trump wasn't a drag on the GOP at all. He was in 2018, because he wasn't on the ballot, so the people that hated Trump showed up more then his people did. But in 2020, with the God Emperor himself on the top of the ballot, a whole lot of them came out. It does seem to have been a pretty clean and legitimate election so far, so there is just a hell of a lot more Trump supporters then most people counted. This is not a good thing, but it does mean that is likely tied more to personality then policy.
We'll see the final exit polls, but early indications were that both camps' strongly voted for policy over personality.

Because 'easier" isn't a thing that matters in this. All that matters is the result and the result was Biden was painted as a socialist even though he's far from it.

Yeah this is my take on it too. The Trump cult wants Trump not some establishment republican.

But there's also education levels to consider.

Educated votes have far more consistent turnout over election cycles than uneducated voters do.

And the modern GOP is all about the uneducated.

So I think democrats are going to have a far better chance in Georgia next spring than they would have had if those elections had been held yesterday.

It's arguable that this tectonic shift's already happened, but because Democrats aren't willing to lean left, they can't see it. Support for left-wing programs like strong universal health care are way more than 50%; you have to wonder why it doesn't get more support in the polls. If they're going to target Biden of all people as a "socialist", I'd argue it's not that there's some group in the middle who are being left out in the cold, and the Republicans have the far-right on lockdown. So maybe the one path to growing the base is to appeal to the actual left wing.

Oh man. Oh man oh man.

Bernie's about the Cult of Bernie more than anything else. He's the Ron Paul of the US left wing. He wants to be a ranting outsider more than he wants to be an insider effecting real meaningful change. That's why he never stays with the Democratic Party when he's lost his primary run the last two elections. As young as AOC may be, she's actually pushing for that change from within, and getting a hell of a lot of popular national support in the process. Give it 40 years, and I'd lay down money that we'll look back and see Ocasio-Cortez as a far more significant political figure than Bernie Sanders ever managed to become.

Looks to be a close race and looks like even if Biden barely wins it's going to be a legal battle probably where is going to create more chaos to stick to his seat as he knows what awaits him if he loses.
Short version: people are easily misled AND they vote on single issues. It's why I said, until guns/god/government stays an issue, this is America.

It has been close because this is how powerful cult of personalities can be when leveraging fear and hatred.
Kamala would lose worse than Hillary.

This election is far to close for any comfort. Only a couple thousand votes between Biden and trump in Nevada and Michigan.

Its disapointing, i dont know how left wing Americans wake up every morning with any hope in there nation.

Lol Brad Wardell, the asshole CEO of Stardock who tried to steal the UrQuan Masters IP from the original Star Control authors.

That he's a Trumpist is really unsurprising.
