That the election is even this close after the last 4 years genuinely terrifies me.

Half of this country - thereabouts - truly does live in a completely alternate reality.

Well the scary part is it's this close with Trump. Yes, we can comment on Trump voters but imagine getting someone like Trump who is competent. By competent I mean somewhat intelligent and not a moron where he can be a despot dictator, bigot, racist and support white supremacy w/o saying all the stupid crap. Staying off Twitter and not admitting in every interview that he is doing a crime.

What happens for Senate majority if both Georgia seats go into a runoff? Does the majority leader change again when that election is decided? I would assume so, but.. can't find anything on the procedures. Is the leader appointed for an entire session?

What happens for Senate majority if both Georgia seats go into a runoff? Does the majority leader change again when that election is decided? I would assume so, but.. can't find anything on the procedures. Is the leader appointed for an entire session?

The ONLY reason Biden won the Dem nom is because Dems thought he was safe. Most dems, preferred policy from other candidates, but voted Biden because he was centrist and safe.

I know @cubby is going to come here and scream at me again, but if the primary numbers were indicative of voting, then why the fuck was Harris the VP nom and not Sanders or Pete or Warren, who all had more delegates than Harris who had none?

Biden may still pull this out and hopefully he does, but regardless, Dems better change their fucking strategy going forward.

The problem is for average Joe the incentive is not there, you don't get much by paying higher taxes to help people who don't have return of investment for you but for large corporations. For example when large corporations focus on hiring few super stars from all around the world rather than helping the society specially the weaker ones, there is not much incentive for people for paying high taxes. So some real fundamental changes on the way the gain is distributed to non-stock holders and few billionaires is needed, otherwise as I said there is no incentive to pay high taxes for an average Joe.

The incentive is not to go broke when your medical bill is in the tens of thousands. Or you're still driving through collapsing infrastructure. Or the air and water you breathe and drink aren't clean. Or your chance at getting a quality education is simply out of reach because you can't afford it.

I will never understand how paying a little more in taxes (if that even was what would happen) is the worst thing ever. I mean, if we're all paying it, it's all relative and at least you gain way more than you are currently getting now.

But again, people would rather light themselves on fire than to get a better life, I guess. And then still complain that their life sucks by voting for the people who keeps them in eternal misery.
