I wonder if Nixon would have stepped down when his wrongdoing was uncovered, had he been active in today's political climate. Well...I guess that would have depended on whether or not he could count on his party to shield him from any and all consequences as they've done with Trump.

I don't know. Because Nixon stepping down and not being punished make the republicans realise what they could get away with. So if it didn't happen in the 70s and it happened today I don't think the republicans would be so emboldened knowing what they could get away with. Hell if Nixon had no wrong doings we might not even have had Reagan.

It's part of that...you know...whole "making sure there continues to be as little voter fraud/error as usual" thing that people constantly have to remind Republicans is actual reality.

I get that. I really do, but I guess I've been burned too many times to not accept anything positive without it being 100% confirmed. (I'm a Liverpool fan, technically last year we realistically had the league won before 2/3s into the season. Yet I wouldn't accept a disaster wasn't going to happen until the mathmatics said not winning the league was impossible.)

We just issue 1 poll csrd to every eligable voter that you hand in at the station to get a slip, we have 100% strict anon voting, making any identifong marks ln a ballot is illegal here, its even illegal to tell people who you voted for or discuss anything politics in or around a polling station.

Makes things alot quicker.

I don't know... Whether it's a few months from now or 4 years when he leaves office, I'm not all that optimistic that he'll face any serious repercussions for all his garbage. That's just not how our legal system treats the wealthy/powerful (or those LARPing as wealthy/powerful).

Why not just do what the UK does, issue a poll card to each eligable voter by mail, 1 card = 1 vote, then you know exactly how many votes there should be.

It’s taking so long because the remaining states refused to start counting ballots before Tuesday. As such the number of absentee ballots that need to be counted is causing some delays. Hell, the deadline for some states is next week to receive ballots postmarked by election day.

Its basically mirroring the 10% shift towards Biden in suburbia and overperformance in rurals that happened across the country.
