Shall we talk about how flawed the Electoral College is?

Kidding. We talk at nauseam about this EC.

Goes to show the hill or obstacle that needs to be removed just for the Dems to gain ground.
EC is awful. Wanna know something? We also had something akin to a EC in Chile, before 1925 (and had the same problem of awarding the win to the presidency to the person with less votes. Twice.) and the new constitution discarded it (again, in 1925).

One legal battle down, Sharpie-gate is no more. The case has been dropped.

State Attorney General Mark Brnovich (R) called for an investigation on Wednesday and later said there was no merit to the Sharpie allegations.

I’ve grown to like Vaush on YouTube and he is live streaming in 45 min. After about 6 weeks of videos, I approve and recommend:

Of course, winning every single lawsuit is going to be tricky, even if he has evidence or merit -- so far neither have been presented publicly. And even though SCOTUS is, sadly, likely to give him any case that lands in their lap (as in, those they don't flat-out refuse to hear, just so we're clear) they can't just say "do over" or "Trump wins". They have to give a result like "okay, votes cast in Pennsylvania on Election Day are invalid" or the like based on actual evidence. And the evidence will be dramatically different in every state/every case, because the state laws are different, and even if, say, Pennsylvania had some fraudulent votes, that doesn't mean Georgia did too.

This is a difficult task, no question. But not impossible.

Yeah, it seems quite universally that judges nation-wide aren’t having trump’s bullshit.

    As it should be.

It's odd that a Russian immigrant would be spreading pro-Trump/Russian conspiracy stuff... at least in an anecdotal sense, most of the Russian/eastern european immgrants in the US who I know absolutely despise Putin and, by extension, Trump.

Title: Joining Trump's war on voting was a test of loyalty for the GOP. Will it keep up the fight?

Now comes the next round of the fight.

    Excerpts:

On Saturday morning, after the networks, including Fox News, and news organizations called the election for Joe Biden, Trump issued a statement vowing to fight on. How many of his allies will go along with him wasn’t immediately clear, though a number of right wing media personalities quickly spoke out to oppose Biden's victory.
So Trump and some of his supporters are doing their temper tantrum.

A frustrated Lou Dobbs, one of Trump’s most vehement backers on Fox Business, complained that the party leaders were shrinking from the battle. “The president is facing a fight that increasingly looks like a lone wolf to deal with all of this,” he said, berating campaign official Ric Grenell in a contentious interview. “Where the hell are Mitch McConnell? Where is the Republican Party? Where is Ronna McDaniel? Why isn’t the Republican Party en masse demanding the Department of Justice move in here?”

McDaniel, chairwoman of the Republican National Committee, has since fallen in line, giving a number of press conferences and calling to Dobbs’s Fox show to echo unsubstantiated allegations of “irregularities” in the ballot-counting process in several key states.
Led by Fox news, calls are being made for a dramatic show of resistance.

There were dark warnings from Trump’s inner circle about the consequences for Republicans who failed to join the call by his eldest son, Donald Jr., for a “total war over this election.”

“The total lack of action from virtually all of the “2024 GOP hopefuls” is pretty amazing,” Don Jr. tweeted. “They have a perfect platform to show that they’re willing & able to fight but they will cower to the media mob instead. Don’t worry @realDonaldTrump will fight & they can watch as usual!”
Don Jr made his pitch, though this is not surprising at all.

Matt Schlapp, who runs the annual CPAC conference where rising Republican stars vie for attention from influential conservatives, issued his own threat against backsliders, tweeting, “Dear GOP Republicans: if you ever want to be featured @cpac or grow this movement get out now and defend the counting of every compliant ballot w full transparency. We need every one of you.”
CPAC throws its support behind Trump. This is a bit more serious. Hopefully they will lose a LOT of credibility over this. Not likely, but possible.

There are some congressmen joining in.

But some seem to be driven simply by their own conspiratorial views and devotion to the president. Louisiana Republican Rep. Clay Higgins posted a video on YouTube, in the self-consciously ominous style of “The Blair Witch Project,” claiming to have “inside data” proving that the presidential election “is compromised.”

Trump, an “anointed blessing to our nation,” won the election, said Higgins, who was reelected to the House of Representatives for a third term on Tuesday.
So they do have some people and groups working hard for Trump.

    Next article:

Title: 'This isn't over!': Trump supporters refuse to accept defeat

Chanting “This isn’t over!" and “Stop the steal,” supporters of President Donald Trump protested at state capitols across the country Saturday, refusing to accept defeat and echoing Trump’s unsubstantiated allegations that the Democrats won by fraud.

From Atlanta and Tallahassee to Austin, Bismarck, Boise and Phoenix, crowds ranging in size from a few dozen to a few thousand — some of them openly carrying guns — decried the news of Joe Biden's victory after more than three suspense-filled days of vote-counting put the Democrat over the top. Skirmishes broke out in some cities.
Crowd size ranged from a few dozen to a few thousand - so far nothing to fear. They have lots of guns, though I'm not sure who they would be shooting.

A couple of thousand Trump supporters gathered at the Pennsylvania Capitol in Harrisburg. Pennsylvania played a crucial role in Biden's victory.

“If we don’t stop this today, it’ll all be over,” Bruce Fields, 66, said of news organizations declaring Biden the winner. “Otherwise we can kiss freedom goodbye.”

About two dozen heavily armed men, some wearing camouflage, joined the rally.
At this point their numbers are small enough that they mostly will have their temper tantrum and then disperse. There are some BLM groups counter protesting in some places. My initial reaction after thinking about it is that this will pass. But its a bit dangerous.

Be safe everyone. From the virus, and from protestors firing guns at whatever their target might have been. One thing I AM seeing though - if these kinds of protests continue and even grow, there WILL be lots of opposition. Trump may not be through with our country yet.

Yeah. The dems need to penetrate the latino bubble. As one its fucking infuriating to see Venezuelan expats peddling far right propaganda, just because it triggers their Cubazuela fears.
