Considering the reputation and name they made for themselves very few people would. Most rather declare themselves as conservative, nationalist or even Christian democrat.

I would say that someone don't even consider themselves as such, while they are supportive of their ideologies and policies they don't consider themselves part of them.

Let’s roll... what phrase am I being dishonest about now?

And what fucking image? I have a laughing cow avatar and post stupid YouTube videos. Your opinion of me is far more exaggerated than it should be and a lot more exaggerated than I intend. It’s flattering, but when people tell me I act to impress, while I think I’m acting like a dumb ass... it’s not really my problem. About an hour ago, I had a meeting, where I was trying to impress and I swear to what ever, it sounded nothing like I post here.

I do appreciate her propping up the economy of Stehekin, WA. For people that dont know, it's a super isolated place that's only accessible by a 4 hour ferry. Or a 30 mile hike over Cascade Pass.

No, that is the reality, your intent is a different matter. When Peter Parker saw a thief and did nothing, he didn’t intend for his uncle Ben to be killed.

And that's kind of the point.

If your intent doesn't line up with the reality of the outcome, change your activity so it lines up with your intent. If you don't want a Trump Presidency in 2020-2024, then vote for someone other than Trump. And right now, that means Biden, the way things are going. If you're wielding your vote to effect change, and failing to have enough support among your fellow citizens to get there, that's one thing. Just not bothering? You're passively allowing whatever outcome happens, to happen. You made no effort to prevent it. And thus, you don't really have much grounds for bitching about it. Should've voted, and made your intent known.

Random question: if we were to magically replace Biden with Gavin Newsom or Andrew Cuomo, do you think that would be an improvment?

Because honestly the dignity and firmness that Newsom shows and the straight-talk of Cuomo have really impressed me. I mean I don't really want to elect another New Yorker (deal with it New Yorkers), but both of these men have been far more presidential in the last 3 months than Trump has in 3 years.
Human progress isn't measured by industry. It's measured by the value you place on a life.

An improvement? Yes, personally. At least with Newsom, I know far less about Cuomo.

But like hell will a CA governor get elected right now. Newsom sure ain't Reagan.

I’m like the only person who has been saying Cuomo for a couple of years now. So, yes... I would prefer Cuomo. Know little about Newsome, but I would prefer him as well. But... regardless... I’m voting against Trump.

As a NYer, I would prefer Cuomo only because of how well he's handled this pandemic. Otherwise, eh, I dunno. He doesn't exactly have much rep with other states.

Threatening to not vote for him and letting Trump win in 2020 isn't such a stance. It flatly is not.

That's a stance that A> has a solid place in the primary race, and B> means you should be getting involved in campaigning, yourself. Have you been going to town halls and trying to communicate with your local members? Have you been involving yourself in campaign runs to help boost candidates you support? I've done all that, myself. Not every election, by any means, but when I felt it was warranted, sure.

If you're not, then you're not actually making any effort to encourage more-progressive policy making. You're just sitting and hoping others will do it for you.

It is not November yet. The progressive movement should not surrender too early.
You don't speak for "the progressive movement". You speak for yourself. And voting for the candidate most likely to legislate in the more-progressive manner is not "surrender".

I don't understand this seemingly circular logic.

First, you'd have quite of a time in listing all the policies from all the presidents that clearly demonstrate a connection to putting someone like Trump in the WH.

As to your logic, you don't want to vote for Biden cause he represents that which you think put Trump in the WH. But Trump is in the WH right now and not voting for his direct opponent means that he will remain in the WH, something which you are apparently agaisnt.

This is some Nero like stuff. You're displeased with the status quo and you're willing to set the whole thing on fire and watch it burn to the ground, so you can come later and rebuild, except there won't be anyone or anything there to rebuilt from.

You're willingly participating in the process of holding back your country for 4 more years, why? Because you're the spoiled kid in the yard who isn't getting his way and decides to scream and pout until everyone else concedes?

Yeah ain't that the truth. As an ex-Californian I don't really know much about him either. He seems to have governed....in a manner that is neither spectacularly good nor terrible, which honestly, "just plain over governance" is like, a fucking godsend in comparison.

Yeah I mean honestly from an not-NY perspective, I always felt like Cuomo wasn't well liked. But he certainly seems to have stepped up for the pandemic. And in a lot of ways, that's all being President is: being willing to step up and lead, except you're doing it all the time. Sure a governership is similar, but not to the same degree.

As unfortunate as it is, it's at least something to think about for 2024 or 2028, depending on if Biden gets elected, and how well he handles things, or randomly drops dead. Didn't he say he only wanted to do this for a single term? Was that hearsay?

He's done just fine for the most part. Very much a product of SF, but also very practical and pragmatic. He has lofty ideals and goals, and can understand the need to compromise to achieve them, or when they are unachievable. Not perfect by any means, but after the mediocre Schwarzenegger tenure we've had two largely solid Democratic governors.
