"The president is still involved in ongoing litigation related to the election,” White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said at a briefing on Tuesday, calling the Electoral College vote “one step in the constitutional process."
McEnany wouldn’t comment on Trump’s reaction to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulating Biden or whether Trump will invite Biden to the White House, and she said of the possibility of the Senate starting hearings for Biden’s nominees before the inauguration: "I think that's a hypothetical.”
Forbes reached out to every Republican in Congress after Biden clinched the Electoral College but got comment from just nine who had not previously acknowledged Biden as president-elect. Reps. Jeff Fortenberry (R-Neb.), Van Taylor (R-Tex.) and Bill Johnson (R-Ohio), and Sens. Mike Braun (R-Ind.), Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.), Rob Portman (R-Ohio), Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) all conceded the result, while Rep. Jodey Arrington (R-Tex.) refused to do so.
