Pence may wonder if his immunity as VP is a curse or a blessing. he cannot be fired but it is his duty to "backstab" his master (and himself).
still a chance of him resigning early january, so the wrath will be aimed at somebody else ? or will he hold out for the slim chance he is needed as President for 1 day for a pardon to Trump ?

He knows his entire political future has been tied to Trump since he signed up to be VP for this shitshow. Hopping off now would destroy any chance of a deep 2024 run which could lead to a cabinet position. Even playing up this shit won't really help him in 2024 since Trump's base wants a circus, but he's hoping enough evangelicals go for him that Cruz may try to buy him off so he concedes early.
