On MMO-C we learn that Anti-Fascism is locking arms with corporations, the State Department and agreeing with the CIA, But opposing the CIA and corporate America, and thinking Jews have a right to buy land and can expect tenants to pay rent THAT is ultra-Fash Nazism. Bellingcat is an MI6/CIA cut out. Clyburn Truther.
1, take you own advise.
2, if he was the least desirable candidate then how the fuck did he get more votes than the rest?
3, seriously read #1 again and apply it.

Not to mention not many liked him in the senate and was notoriously difficult to work with.

It’s also a bizarre premise. It creates a paradigm, where the only legitimate choices is to abstain or vote against your interest. Everything else makes you a subservient shill. I think if placed in any other context, it’s a lot more strange. Like drinks... on one hand you have a bottle of piss and on the other is Mountain Dew... I realize that rhetorically both are the same... but, realistically... are you going to risk drinking piss because both choices are ‘the same’?

Justin Amash is out!
Representative Justin Amash of Michigan announced on Saturday that he would not pursue the Libertarian Party’s nomination for president, bringing an end to his extended flirtation with a third-party candidacy that could have introduced a new element of uncertainty into the race between President Trump and former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr.
The remaining third party candidates include:
- An anti-Vaxxer
- An Assad Apologist
- Some nut that wants to blow up what remains of the economy
So if you run into a person that desperately wants a third party. Walk away for your own safety.
Government Affiliated Snark
Then it looks like the entire race comes down to turn out, although it already did to the most part, this just solidifies it more. Primaries have been a mixed bag so it's hard to gauge enthusiasm, but if turnout is as bad as 2016, trump wins, if it's higher, he'll lose bigly.
Let's assume for a moment that the current administration wins again. How do you propose to swing a 6-3 or even 7-2 SCOTUS back to the left? Any progressive president would need a more moderate SCOTUS to achieve anything tangible because everything would get blocked by the courts. That's just SCOTUS. The current administration appointed as many circuit court judges in 3 years as Obama did in 8 years. A lot of those judges were appointed in blue states too. All of those are lifetime appointments.
For SCOTUS, the left would be fortunate to swing a 6-3 court back to 5-4 (conservative-liberal) in 10 years. It would probably take 30-40 years to swing a 7-2 court liberal and that would take a lot of luck.
I really don't understand the "burn it all down" mentality. Every time a conservative takes over the progressives end up taking many steps backwards. Climate, etc. all take a big knock.
The Democratic party and the country as a whole has been trending left for a while now. It's not fast but it is happening. From a progressive standpoint, the Democratic nominations to the courts are way left of the GOP's nominations. Just compare RBG to Thomas. These are the people that ultimately decide what is allowed. They are the ones that can ban gerrymandering, etc. The right never split their vote like the left do. All of the hard core conservatives fall in line behind the nominee and they vote in much larger percentages than the left do.
If the youth want people to take notice then they need to get out and vote. Right now, if you have a democratic nominee that has to choose between what the youth want, who have a 30% voter turnout, and let's say, African American woman, who have a > 70% voter turnout in elections, what demographic do you think they are going to tailor their policies towards? The youth need to at least be voting at the same level as the middle age people. Even when they don't like the candidate. If the youth turn out in those numbers then you can be sure that politicians will very quickly be changing their message.
This also applies to down ballot. There are red districts and there are blue districts and there are districts that are purple. Sticking a hard core progressive in a purple district is a recipe for disaster. The moderate candidate might only vote in favor of progressive ideals 70% of the time but that is much better than 10% of the time that progressives will get with a conservative. By all means, push the progressives in blue districts and blue states. California is a good example of a state that can get away with a very progressive candidate. Pushing one in Ohio doesn't make any sense at all.
Who is presently controlling the agenda in US politics? Mitch McConnell. Controlling the agenda is more important than almost anything.
i would like to know how exactly the democratic party has been trending left as whole if they keep trying to run center right candidates trying to appeal to the right/far right. they've been doing this for the last 26 years at least since bill clinton. the only exception being al gore and bernie sanders along with elizabeth warren but the first one didn't win because of electoral shenanigans. and the last two failed to win the primaries so they don't really count.

r.i.p. alleria. 1997-2017. blizzard ruined alleria forever. blizz assassinated alleria's character and appearance.
i will never forgive you for this blizzard.
The democratic party can mean different things.
Firstly, if you look at the voters who are in democratic party. Over 50% of them now see themselves as liberal (https://fivethirtyeight.com/features...fy-as-liberal/).
Second, we have the politicians. In blue states, more democratic party woman are holding political office (https://fivethirtyeight.com/features...ot-everywhere/). Woman are more liberal than men on average. Finally, we have people like AOC who are part of the Democratic party. They can't be excluded because they are progressives. You can also look at what blue states are doing compared to red states (https://fivethirtyeight.com/features...e-total-power/). It's chalk and cheese. As a whole, the Democratic party is much more liberal than it was before. Sure, there are still some old conservative codgers in the party but its certainly moving left.
Now, if you ask the question, why didn't a progressive win the nomination this time around, I think that's a different matter. I think the following had an impact:
- Bernie, and some of his supporters, are polarizing. That's hurts him. He lost a lot of political capital in the 2016 election because he pushed things all the way through to the convention and kept attacking Clinton instead of getting behind Clinton earlier. I am not saying that he was right or wrong in what he did, I am just saying that it had an impact on his support.
- Bernie made a few tactical errors by attacking the establishment so much when he was ahead. I don't think it was the difference between him winning and losing but I don't think it helped him.
- There are moderates in the Democratic Party that were very nervous of a Bernie ticket. This is not because of some great conspiracy, it's because it would have made their races much more difficult. They would have been attacked as "socialist".
- People in the Democratic Party are so desperate to defeat Trump that they preferred more moderate candidates.
- I think the progressives missed a trick. I really think that Warren would have had a much better chance of winning the nomination if the progressives had gotten behind her around the time that Bernie had his heart attack. She has been very careful not to paint herself as being socialist. She pushed mostly policies that were very popular among the general population. The moderates didn't get behind her when she was peaking because they weren't sure but she was palatable to them as a whole. Much more so than Bernie. Had Warren been in Bernie's position before Super Tuesday then I think she would have won.

One more thing, this chart will give you a good indication of why moderate candidates are still more popular to the DP.
While the majority of the Democratic party members are liberal. Under 30% of the US population is.

And this link should be a big incentive to any progressive to turn out and vote for Democratic Party politicians - https://fivethirtyeight.com/features...e-total-power/
Blue states (that's the ones run by the same Democratic Party that the hard core "burn it all down" supporters hate) are much better for working class people. You can't even compare the two types of states.

Every election everywhere in the world some moderate comes up with some bullshit list of rationalizations as to why the "left" puts up some obviously vile being such as Biden, it gets very tiresome to listen to.
The truth is very simple. IT IS ABOUT MONEY. The corporate democrats have corporate money behind them and control the media. So they can brainwash people into voting for them however retarded that option might be. It is not any more complicated than that. People with billions of dollars decide things. The only confusing part is how Sanders got so close to the nomination in the first place.

Then a) try being alive for 45 years and seeing how useless "moderates" are in office, and b) getting your information from something other than television.

I imagine if I were a Putin shill I'd support the status quo, which is causing hundreds of thousands of your countrymen die from lack of health insurance.
Come to think of it-how many people have ISIS killed in the US? A tiny fraction of those that died because of nationalized healthcare. Some patriot you are. Neo-liberal apologists have killed way more Americans than your foreign enemies could even dream of. If you want to find America's existential enemy look in the mirror, Jeb.
