Under the name Alexandra McCabe, Tara Reade has for years testified for the prosecution as an expert in domestic violence cases.

But a number of California defense attorneys are considering challenging the convictions of their clients amid questions about whether Reade misrepresented her credentials under oath.

Reade, the former Joe Biden staffer who recently accused him of sexually assaulting her in 1993, stated she had an undergraduate degree that her college says she never earned and appears to have exaggerated her role in Biden’s office, according to trial transcripts in two court cases reviewed by POLITICO.

Long story short, Reade apparently testified as a domestic violence expert repeatedly, often times receiving a stipend and hotel room in return for her testimony. She was credited with helping many of the accused be convicted based on her testimony.

Problem is...she lied about her experience. She claimed to have an undergrad degree...she doesn't, and the college confirms this. She inflated her role in Biden's office, contradicting the reality that she ran the intern program for him. And she made other claims that are verifiably false that inflated her experience and expertise.

These cases are now being reviewed again as lawyers see if they have a chance to appeal and potentially overturn convictions.

This is why all the "BUT READE AND FORD!" comparisons have been, and remain, dumb. Reade's history is absolutely questionable as hell and filled with people who can verify that she's a repeat liar and claim she's extremely manipulative, though the latter charge is their view alone. And the more people look into her history, the more questions come up.

Believe women when they make an accusation. Support them. But investigate the credibility of their claims. In this instance, they seem quite questionable, at least the more extreme allegations that Biden digitally penetrated her. I doubt you'll find anyone who would argue that he did "nothing" at all, and the claims that he made her feel uncomfortable with some of his behavior are perfectly reasonable given his public behavior. But that does not rise to the level of a crime, and while I wish that didn't have to be a part of the equation on who we're voting for, we're sadly left with no great options given the way voters of both parties have decided to vote.
