Texas lost more than just minimum wage, part time, fast food and retail jobs. Texas lost a lot of 100k plus jobs. The oil industry is a huge network in Texas. It is the best paying industry in the nation. A swamper on a drill rig, the lowest worker on the totem pole, can easily make over 70k a year with over time. Starting at the top, you have the majors hire drilling companies who hire other smaller companies. This is just for upstream (drilling for oil). You also have midstream that involves transportation and storage. Then you have downstream where is refined and transported for sell to customers. A small graphic to give you an idea the size of Texas oil industry.

That graphic does not include businesses that benefit indirectly from the vast amount of money generated by oil and gas companies, and the high incomes workers in the industry who spend that income locally. Then you have the mineral rights research and assessor companies, certification agencies (ABS, DNV, Intertek, etc.), research firms, proppant manufacturing companies, etc. The list is endless.

Did he pick her already - must have missed that. Or is this just more of your lies? Let us know which - ignorant or liar, your choice.

I love, also, that you don't understand even the basics of politics. They were enemies during the Primary, and now they are not, because...wait for it...we all have a common enemy, and we're all adult enough to come together and battle him. In case you forgot, that enemy the guy who recommended, and then doubled down, on drinking bleach to cure a virus. He's also your dear leader, the one who tells you want to believe.

Another popularity poll. Here is the poll - THE STATE OF THE NATION: A 50-STATE COVID-19 SURVEY REPORT #6: UPDATE ON THE APPROVAL OF EXECUTIVE PERFORMANCE DURING COVID-19 by Harvard and Northeastern Universities.

Governors' approval ratings drop as COVID-19 cases mount

The poll, conducted over a two-week period this month among 19,052 adults across all 50 states, found that governors who have been the most hesitant to rush reopening their own economies have been rewarded by voters who are also nervous about a premature return to normalcy.

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) scores the strongest marks in the nation; 76 percent of his constituents say they approve of the way Hogan is handling the virus. In Vermont, 75 percent like the way Gov. Phil Scott (R) is handling his state's outbreak. Seventy-one percent of New Yorkers and Rhode Islanders approve of Govs. Andrew Cuomo (D) and Gina Raimondo (D), respectively. And Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker (R) is seen in a positive light by 70 percent of those in the state.

On the other end of the spectrum are governors who raced to reopen their economies, or never truly shut them down in the first place. Those governors are now overseeing some of the most significant hotspots in the United States, places where the virus is spreading virtually unchecked.

Just 28 percent of Iowans approve of the way Gov. Kim Reynolds (R) is dealing with the outbreak. Only 30 percent of Arizonans approve of Gov. Doug Ducey's (R) handling. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott's (R) coronavirus approval rating is just 38 percent, two points higher than Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R). And only 34 percent of Oklahomans approve of the way Gov. Kevin Stitt (R), who has the virus himself, is handling the state response.

But it is Republican governors who dominate the lowest ranks of the list. Fourteen of the 15 worst-rated governors are Republicans; the lone Democrat, Hawaii Gov. David Ige (D), started the pandemic as one of the least-popular governors in the country. Just 39 percent of Hawaii residents approve of the job he is doing - a figure that has actually risen two points since April.

Trump's approval rating is worse than governors in all but five states - Arizona, Iowa, Missouri and Georgia, where residents have a higher opinion of Trump than of their Republican governors, and Tennessee, where residents see Trump and Gov. Bill Lee (R) in an equally unfavorable light.

Trump's ratings are dismal in the 13 key swing states his campaign sees as critical to his path to a second term in office. In those states, in which Trump has spent time or money campaigning, his handling of the virus is seen in a favorable light by an average of just 34 percent of those polled, two points higher than his national average.

Only 28 percent of Wisconsin residents approve of the job Trump is doing controlling the uncontrolled virus. Just 29 percent of Iowa residents said the same, as did only 30 percent of those in Michigan and New Hampshire. His best swing state rating comes in Florida, where 39 percent see Trump's handling of the virus in a favorable light, and in Arizona and Georgia, where 38 percent said the same.

There was a thing that leaked on Politico's website which wrote about her in a short bio as if Biden had picked her as the nominee. All the candidates got one, only hers mentioned her being picked by Biden as VP. No one knows if it's a standard write up being used for all the candidates and only Kamala's got accidentally got put up, or if the pick is in, but it's under some sort of media embargo until a certain time.

My pick is the former, since it's been about a day and a half and not a peep from any other news organization. That news would leak like an uncapped fucking fire hydrant.

I was talking about 2015/2016 when Rick "I now wear glasses to appear smart" Perry was bragging about all the jobs he created in Texas positing himself as a proven job creator, when almost all were minimum wage, part time jobs in fast food and retail.

It was just an attempt to show the absurdity of Texas conservatives. Frankly if it weren't for the blue areas of the state it would just be a large Alabama. Hell, a whole town of racists were duped into coming out to the streets with guns to meet out justice on some BLM protestors, from a photoshopped picture of BLM busses parked in their town. Truly enlightened down there.

"Trump's shortcomings make weak opponent Biden look strong"

    An exerpt

Then I went to Iowa and New Hampshire and was shocked to see how the 77-year-old could barely hold a tune. Speeches became rambling soliloquies, a reminiscence from his Senate career here, a name drop from his vice-presidential tenure there. Looping and meandering, his train of thought regularly careered off the rails.

Anecdotes did not seem to make any political point; and while he spoke in vague generalities about redeeming the soul of America, he never thrashed out what precisely that meant. Still he could flash his mega-wattage grin, but he appeared before us as an ambient presence who struggled to light up a room.
It's a good article, and a worrying one. It essentially shows you're voting for or against DT in the November election. His opponent could be a magic 8 ball and people would vote for it.

Trump's biggest mistake is his constant twitter and press briefings rants.
Shut up and win, that could have been his strategy, instead he suggest that people should start drinking bleach.

Trump said enough crazy things during his rallies but that was so incoherent (dishwasher rant) that the stupidity of it wasn't as damaging. His Corona press briefings however follow the same formula but less in a rally form makes easier to report about the stupid shit he says.

I still stand by the fact that Trump could've coasted to a relatively easy 2020 win if he actually did anything meaningful about COVID-19 back in January when he was briefed on it. His approval would've gone up, he could've run on his 'I saved you all from getting sick and dying!!' platform with more tangible results, and spun the inevitable outbreaks in major metropolitan cities as 'Democratic failure' and shown himself as the benevolent savior swooping in to save them.

But instead he couldn't get over himself long enough to acknowledge something that made him 'look bad' and it's caused a catastrophic domino effect that's primed to smother our economy and is already over-taxing our health care providers.

Quick Edit: This opinion was something formed back before the BLM protests started up, so it's very likely he'd still have rather dreary approval ratings in this hypothetical scenario where he actually gave a shit about COVID yet was still determined to frame the protests as Lawless Rioters and Terrorists and sicked Federal Thugs at them. They probably wouldn't be 'Texas might actually turn purple???' bad, but you get my point.

Your post just reminded me about how leaders around the world, and in the US got HUGE HUGE boosts in popularity around the beginning of this thing, except trump, who got a really tiny boost and blew it. You are completely right, he was so worried about how the pandemic would make him look bad, that it became a self fulfilling prophecy.

  20. #7680
Trump completely fucked up Covid and it might cost him election that was otherwise supposed to be an easy win. If Biden wins it will be interesting to see how long he will last until his mental health makes him unfit for the office.

In a perfect world Jo Jorgensen would win, but sadly we dont live in a perfect world. At least communist Sanders is out.
