Biden is way ahead of Trump in terms of covid-19 planning.
A national mask mandate.
Using the war powers act to secure masks and other PPE, instead of hiding/hoarding it.
Staying on the obama plan for ventilators, instead of overpaying $550,000 for one.

At very least having the federal government giving a consistent message and guidelines has to be helpful. Having one that says one thing and then hours later undercuts it for months just means nobody knows what to do so its every man for themselves.

Of all Trump's cabinet, there are really only two I consider actually dangerous as people. Barr and Pompeo. The rest are destructive goons, that just wreck their little corner of government. Barr is different, he is an incredibly destructive and cunning minion, he is dangerous because he makes Trump much more dangerous by association, but he doesn't seem to have a clear ambitious agenda of his own.

But Pompeo is the truly terrifying one. He is far smarter then Trump, far more ambitious, and not the slightest more moral. His attacks on America are calculated and effective, and incredibly destructive. The long term damage he has done to America already is easily on par with Trump, and his future potential is staggering. The reason this is relevant to this thread is because of his role in the RNC this week. It is terrifying, but he is going to get away with it.

Pompeo will be a keynote speaker. As the current SecState. From Jerusalem. The former is a danger to democracy, the later is peak Christian Nationalism. This isn't an example of sloppy government, this is a move that will be wildly supported by his base, and gives a clear example of the sort of power move that is both possible, and sustainable. I do not believe Trump's brand of totalitarianism can last in this country. Trump is too stupid and chaotic. But Pompeo's version of totalitarianism can.

The idea of Jordan or Carlson running in 2024 doesn't scare me. The idea of Pompeo/Haley running in 2024 scares the crap out of me. That would be the doom of this nation.

This is why only a landslide will do this year. Trump supporters will be just switching who they follow should Biden become President. And they will continue to be completely angry about just about everything.

This also means that non Trump supporters can not just relax once the election is over.

Step 1: Remove Trump from office.
Step 2: Defeat his supporters when they gravitate to someone worse.

Step 2 will be much harder than Step 1.

Then you haven't been paying attention. Trump has done so much structural damage to the US that it will take a long time to rebuild. And our worldwide reputation is tattered beyond repair. If you missed it, over 180,000 people have died from Covid, and estimates that this number is underestimated by 10-30%.

This is like one 9/11 a week for a year. Well worse than that. More deaths, and a LOT more economic damage.

You must have missed the RNC yesterday. Far more anger and hatred between different groups of people in the US than anytime since about the Civil War.

We have record high stock prices while in the beginning of a recession. This is NOT sustainable. We have a President that lies daily in his tweets. This is NOT sustainable. In Congress the two sides are enemies rather than being on the same side. This is also NOT sustainable.

Destroying something as huge as the US takes a while. Trump is working as hard and as fast as he can to get the job done before he leaves office.
