Trump is only catering to his base here, who seem to love the whole bully lying populist persona. Anyone who thinks he's winning is part of his base and doesn't care about what he says or the debate in general. Anyone actually paying attention to the debate can see Trump isn't just losing the debate, he's not even really participating.
His performance won't lose him any conservative votes, and won't gain him any liberal votes, the prize in this fight are undecided independent voters. And honestly I can't see how anyone who cares about the issues can take Trump seriously when he won't talk about the issues and can only bully and insult and lie for the whole debate. Yes he's the loudest, yes he interrupts the most, yes he's trying to get under Biden's (and Wallace's) skin, but he's lost every element and topic of the actual "debate".
