This is a marked difference from how evangelical leaders have spoke about Trump previously. Before, the prayers were for him as "God's vehicle", and he was, as Trump bragged about, "the chosen one". Now, Trump is out of the picture and it's all in the hands of God.

We can only hope this marks the beginning of the evangelical exodus in the Trump base, but it's a damn longshot.

Let me try to explain what wallace was doing. He didnt say the KKK or white supremecists. He specifically said the Proud boys. There are multiple facets of the proud boys. They are for the most part just pro nationalism and not as racist other than flying the stars and bars anymore than the BLM leaders are black supremecists. He tried to hide the white nationalist rhetoric in the question. Had he said KKK Trump has already in the past condemned them and all racists. This was a loaded question.

if i remember correctly, the mediator dude said like 4 times "do you condemn white nationalists and far right extremists" didn't even mention the proud boys so trump had multiple opportunity to just say yea.

in stead, he said who, who in particular then i think the mediator dude said proud boys so then finally trump said basically yea they should wait essentially or something.

so i mean, if the proud boys are not white nationalists then trump simply did not condemn white nationalism at all, if they are then trump condemned only one organization

I could understand Trump, or really any Republican, bristling at the notion of condemning militias, even if many of them have white supremacist/hate group ties, because that's a big deal for Republicans for some reason.

If someone says, condemn white nationalism and they give you an example of a group like the Proud Boys, and the first response from him isn't, "Hey, they aren't white nationalists", then you are acknowledging that they are - especially when you say, "Stand Down, Stand By", knowing exactly that it would be a rallying cry to them.

The resident didn't simply just say, "I condemn white nationalists and white supremacists". It was a simple statement to make and the fact that he went out of his way to blame Antifa and the "radical left", shows that he knew exactly what he was doing by not giving his condemnation. His non-answer was his answer to everyone.

This is what they should do for the next ones (if they even go ahead): Allow them both a set amount of minutes to answer the question without interruptions other than from the host. If the opponent interrupts they get less time to answer the next question, time which is given to the opponent. Either that or just straight up cut the mics. Then at the end allow them to go at it head to head. Nothing else will work, Trump will just railroad it again and prevent any adult discussion from taking place.
