The latest poll has Biden ahead in NC by three.

538 has had Biden ahead in NC for months now, but +3 is about as far as he's been. While 270towin still has NC as a tossup (+3 is a small gap) they have Biden with 290 right now, and NC would be +15. Again, that would give Biden more EC votes than Trump had in 2016.

NC would be a hard target. True, heavy Democrat campaigning in NC would have the side-effect of also hitting SC as well, whose race is as tight as Graham's butthole right now. And it could spill over into reinforcing Virginia's Biden lead as well. That could make it yet another "troll target" forcing Trump to spend time and money on a state he should already have locked up (SC) and one he desperately needs just to stay alive (NC). Trump took NC last time.

Trump is on the defensive. He can't be everywhere at once. Forcing him to take a day or two to rally in NC or SC would be a boon for Biden.

WASHINGTON — An accidentally cut cable has caused the entire Virginia voter registration system to go down on the last day to register to vote before election day.

The Virginia Information Technology Agency tweeted that a fiber cut near Route 10 in Chester, Virginia is to blame.

"Due to a network outage, the Citizen Portal is temporarily unavailable. We are working with our network providers to restore service as quickly as possible," the Virginia Department of Elections posted on their registration website.

Members of anti-government paramilitary groups discussed kidnapping Virginia’s governor during a June meeting in Ohio, an FBI agent testified Tuesday during a court hearing in Michigan.

Special Agent Richard Trask was part of the investigation that led to six men being arrested and charged last week with plotting to kidnap Michigan’s Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. Seven other men face state terrorism charges.

Trask did not name Virginia’s Democratic governor, Ralph Northam, during his testimony in a federal courtroom in Grand Rapids. He said members of anti-government groups from multiple states attended the meeting.

“They discussed possible targets, taking a sitting governor, specifically issues with the governor of Michigan and Virginia based on the lockdown orders,” Trask said. He said the people at the meeting were unhappy with the governors’ response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Trask did not discuss further planning aimed at Northam.
