I’m in full on Florida Trump country and the amount of Republicans for Biden signage I’ve seen is, well, shocking.

Well, I had dropped my mail-in ballot off at the county election supervisors office on Saturday and I checked online and it has been counted. One more vote for Biden and a return to sanity in Florida.

Mitt Romney's attempt to cosplay Susan Collins is pretty weak, IMO.
Pretty poor attempt at both sidesism.

Aren't you in Gaetz district? If it's that bad for Trump there, than well, yay!

Drone shot of the line in Dallas. Plenty of early voting places. However, turnout way exceeds expectations. Good thing the high is only 84. At a local level, CA went from 270k turned in ballots on Sunday to 586,935 Tuesday morning.

He's also just fucking wrong. And demonstrating clear internalized racism in the process of being that wrong.

The United States of America is predicated on vituperative hate. It literally always has been.

Hate for the monarchy, not out of some notion of liberal freedom, but out of a desire by landowners to retain tax revenues to spend on improving their local region.
Hate for blacks, as expressed in one of the greatest systemic enslavements in the history of the world, and a denigration and oppression of black Americans that has continued far past the abolition of that slave state system.
Hate for non-white immigrants, which has always been the status quo in American history despite the words carved into the Statue of Liberty. From abuses of Chinese immigrant labor in building the railroads to "No Irish Allowed" signs to the current attacks on Latino and Muslim immigration.
Hate for communism, and by extension, all socialist theory, in such a blindly ideological opposition that it was completely absent of any form of reason.
Hate for fellow Americans, as the current civil divides, as terrible as they are, still don't rise to the levels of the Civil War.

The USA has not ever been a nation predicated on polite, informed debate. It takes a spectacularly biased worldview to present things in that manner.

That's why these issues were primed to explode. Because the hate is endemic to American culture and history. It's just boiling up to the surface once again, as it did in the American Revolution, as it did in the Civil War, as it did during Prohibition, as it did during the Civil Rights movement. It may be tamped down for a few decades, but it always boils back up.

Particularly, the suggestion that leaders should "tone it down". If you mean leaders like Trump, who are instigating injustice and unrest, sure. If you mean leaders like those pushing BLM protests and the like, fuck off. They're the victims, and should not be asked to simmer down. Fix the abuses predicated against them, predicated in hate, and then we can talk about tone. You don't get to complain about the vile things being said by those whose necks you're stepping on, not without a whopping amount of privilege and hate informing your views.

Biden is in full attack mode.

    https://sports.yahoo.com/donald-trum...201044968.html

Title: ‘With Donald Trump it’s simple: you’re expendable.’ Biden rips POTUS in seniors event

    Excerpts:

“Donald Trump’s chaotic and divisive leadership has cost us far too much: 216,000 dead from COVID-19 and rising,“ Biden told an intentionally small crowd of seniors and Democratic activists at the Southwest Focal Point Community Center in Pembroke Pines.
Full blame on the severity of the virus in the US on Trump. About time.

Biden said he thought Trump — who has intentionally downplayed the severity of the virus — would have been “chastened” by catching COVID-19. But instead, he said Trump has increased his “disinformation” about the virus as he has returned to campaigning, starting with a Monday rally at a Central Florida airport attended by thousands of people.

“People have been left to wonder an awful lot: ‘Who’s looking out for me?’ That’s been the entire story, in my view, of Donald Trump’s presidency,” Biden said through a mask in Pembroke Pines, where campaign aides wiped down the podium between speakers. “He’s never been focused on what matters. He’s never been focused on you ... While you’re losing precious time with your loved ones, he’s been stuck in a sand trap at one of his precious golf clubs.”
I'm content with these excerpts. It COULD be more dramatic and harsher, but this is more than fine

It's unreal looking at those pictures; where I live here in England, my employer (The local council) asks for volunteers to man the polling stations (And pays them more for doing so), and there's a bunch of polling stations across the borough. You'd never see a queue like that, and we're the nation known for queues.

Europeans cannot conceptualize how awful Republicans are.
I'm sure I can get close just by thinking of the shit the Tories pull.

I didn't even think that was possible.

No, if they were like Tories, it would actually be an improvement, Republicans are on an island off on their own in horridness.

Cal Cunningham is doing his best to throw the North Carolina Senate race, so that sucks. I live in South Carolina, but we share a lot of news stations with western NC, so we get both sets of ads, and the GOP is taking their advantage when they have it. Cunningham had a huge lead, but that is almost entirely gone, and I am pretty confident he will lose now.

I don't know what the hell Politicians are thinking when they think someone isn't going to find out their dirty laundry. The first thing every campaign manager should ask a candidate is "Whose wife are you boning?" and the second question should be "Did you send her flowers lately?". Because pissed off mistresses are not good optics.

Have there been more recent polls than what's here?:

    https://www.nytimes.com/2020/10/13/u...rt-census.html

Supreme Court just gave the Trump administration the green light to ratfuck representation for the next decade by cutting the Census counting short.

This is what the election is about. This is why it matters. This is directly harming Americans and our representation.

The court’s brief, unsigned order gave no reasons, which is typical when the court acts on emergency applications. Justice Sonia Sotomayor dissented, saying that “the harms associated with an inaccurate census are avoidable and intolerable.”
    She's 100% right.

I saw a poll that had him at +2 today, but I honestly didn't check up on which one it was.

I am fine, it was shitty for a few days, but I am recovered now. Just a lingering cough.

It's worse than trying to explain how long the drive from LA to San Francisco is.
Isnt LA like 400-500km away from San Francisco?
Forgive my english, as i'm not a native speaker

614km, apparently. It's quite a drive, and can range from 4-5 to upwards of 8 hours depending on traffic and how strictly you abide by speed limits. Though you can always stop off for Anderson's Split Pea soup, so that's nice.

It’s about a 7 hour drive, if you take the fastest route on the 5 through central California cow country. The much prettier route, the 101, will probably take you 8-9. But, as you note, it’s a long way. Perhaps foreigners don’t usually know how large California is, and think SF and LA are close by merit of being in the same state.

The surprising thing to foreigners? Try driving 20 miles in Los Angeles. That’ll take you 45 minutes to an hour.
