Hinastorm just wants any stimulus passed at this point, i don't agree with them, but it's their opinion. I think what the republican senators are proposing is like giving someone dying of thirst water laced with poison.

edit - I 100% think they need to pass something for the airline industry though. even if it is it's own thing like has been proposed.

After watching the video of the interaction between Wolf Blitzer and Nancy Pelosi, I have a lot more respect for Pelosi and a lot less for Wolf.

What I kinda wanted her to say was something like: "If we accepted the Republicans' proposal, we would be giving them exactly what they want while only getting half of what the people need. And in doing so, we'd lose any leverage towards trying to get help to the other half. Wolf, how would you suggest I explain to half of my constituents, and half of the US population, that we were forced to leave them behind?"

"WHY NOT JUST GIVE THEM WHAT THEY WANT?! HERE'S ONE OF YOUR PEOPLE SAYING THAT!"

"Because that's not enough, and we already did this long ago. Republicans are slow to catch up."

"BUT TRUMP JUST TWEETED HE WANTS MORE, WHY NOT DEAL WITH THEM?!"

Is he caucusing with the Republicans or something? 3 minutes in and Blitzer can't even pick a position to be morally outraged about with a straight, emotionless face.

Edit: Jesus, he's not even letting Pelosi answer the question he's fucking asking her.

Wolf Blitzer was being a total shitpot in that segment. He was being the very definition of what we've criticised the Democrat party for before; conceding to the ridiculous Republican demands thinking it'll be a good faith agreement, only for the GOP to ratfuck everyone and claim credit whilst calling the side other side useless. No, I'm glad that Pelosi is being super hard with the entire affair. She's right to ask for what's included in the HEROES Act and not compromise. Wolf kept going '$1.8tn!' without having a fucking clue that it's not $500bn less. It's $500bn less PLUS a lot of differences between the two deals, which makes the $1.8tn a fucking taxbreak for corporations. Fuck Wolf Blitzer and fuck the GOP.

Yeah Wolf comes off looking stupid AF there, even if his job is to sometimes play devil's advocate when interviewing politicians, like, and he's such an expressionless robot that you can't even tell if he's digesting any of the information he's being given, and he keeps asking the same question over and over so hes clearly not digesting any of the information, that pelosi's frustration is warranted, and she still keeps it classy,

Some more interesting figures; nearly 97% of all eligible voters in Travis County, Texas are registered to vote this year.

Airlines shouldn't have spent their last stimulus on stock buybacks. /shrug

Sorry to those CEO's, should have been more personally responsible with their money. We'll see how much Republicans like it when Atlanta gets turned into a Lufthansa hub.

That is definitely a keeper. It's so disappointing to see how Blitzer has ended up. I remember him being a decent voice of reason on CNN.

I'd rather support them through unemployment rather than continue to give badly run businesses handouts, tbh. If United or American cared about the viability of a domestic airline industry they shouldn't have been so conceited.

And i'd rather they have good paying jobs, with good pensions, and good benefits. but the CEO's are bad, so fuck em.

I'm sure the international carriers that move in on the domestic market will be more than capable of providing those without continuing to buttress predatory American oligarchies.

Any sane person could have told them that the pandemic wasn't going to magically disappear no matter how much wishful thinking Trump and the GOP engaged in and that they should have planned for decreased air travel and therefore decreased income/earnings for at least a year, probably more.

Yeah that's some good wishful thinking.

They should have planned for their entire industry to practically collapse overnight? wtf?

They didn't! They spent it on paying workers.

And then used other funds to pay dividends and buy back stock. BECAUSE THE DISTINCTION MATTERS OR SOMETHING

Well, if it were for me, the CEOs of almost every company would be sent to a gulag in alaska. With a one way ticket.

Fair moment to remind everyone that Wolf Blitzer is, and has basically always been, a complete fucking moron.

    As supporting evidence, his final score in his only appearance on Celebrity Jeopardy;

-$4600. Because he's an idiot. I don't mind most of the rest of CNN's news people, but I cannot for the life of me understand what genie lamp or monkey's paw Blitzer must have wished on to have his career, because it's sure not on merit or talent.
