I need to watch Discovery and Picard. Don't even recognize like 1/4th of these people.

Picard is ok. It's no TNG but it's fine.

Lower Decks is actually funny, it sometimes misses what's Trek about (often) but it is actually funny.

It's best if you completely skip season 1 of STD (Star Trek Discovery), season 2 is watchable without ending up hating Trek (Anson Mount's Captain Pike single handedly saved that show), season 3 is not out yet. But good gwad season 1 is fucking terrible. - Immigration: Maybe, if allowing more cheap labor into the country and more refugees in is the end goal.
